We are sorry to report that Mrs. Hammond is again quite ill in Port Perry Hospital. Twenty-seven ladies inter- in the U.C.W. met again on Wed. evening to start another season. Unit 2 provided the program with Mrs. Clements, assisted by Mrs. Fishley and Mrs. Keen, leading devotional exercises a and organizing buzz groups to discuss U.C.W. problems. ----Puring the business period the accumulated correspond- ence was read and reports given. An open meeting is being planned for Sept. 27th » when ladies from Greenbank and Pinedale will be present (we hope) and at which Mr. Hatten of C.N.LLB. will be guest speaker. Announce- ment was made of the fall rally to be held at Valentia gon Oct. 3 with morning and afternoon sessions. The case of the badly need- ed chairs was discussed and the Jvomen adopted a motion to match chair for chair with the trust fund of the Y.P.U. Program consisted of a poem read by Mrs. B. Wana- maker who then paired the ladies off for a jumble con- test. Lunch was served in On Friday evening the church basement was the scene of a shower in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Stone. For various reasons the com- pany were late in arriving so the program consisted only of clothes-pin contests for the men. and-boys-condueted-by- Mrs. Cliff Short. Mr. Law- rence Nicholls read the ad- dress and many nice gifts were received. The evening was finished off with the usual lunch. The bride's fa- mily Mr. and Mrs. Budway, their other daughter and sons of Toronto were present as was Mrs. Groves sister of the groom as well as relatives from nearer home. The young couple will live on Eglington Ave., Toronto. A number of Seagravers attended the Beacock - Rodd wedding at Greenbank on Sat. afternoon, including Mrs. M. Stone, grandmother of the bride, Miss Maureen Tobin, a member of the wed- -ding party and "Mr. and Mrs, B. Wanamaker, just friends. Bethel Cemetery bulletin-- Work is progresisng nicely. The wreckers have invaded Seagrave and the house on the old Scott farm seems to be the victim. Newcomers to our com- munity - are Mr. and Mrs. Sherman who have bought the Masotovich property on the 12th concession.. Mr. and Mrs. Tan Fraser of Toronto paid another visit to. the Neil Wanamakers over the week-end." On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Bell of Courtice visit- ed with the Barlow family and called on Mrs. Clements. Taylor of Scugog. They expect to be away about a week. Mrs. Reta Boe and her grandson Wayne Dowson of Port Perry attended Beaver- ton 'Fair on Sat. and spent the week-end with Mr. and Wilson----Boe:-- During the visit they had the pleas- ure of touring Lakeview Man- or. the new Ontario County Home, and found it very beautiful and up-to-date. Other visitors to Beaver- ton Fair on Sat. were Mr. and Mrs. J. S. MacFarlane who spent the latter part of the day with Rev. Wm. and Mrs. Fitzcimmons of that place. Then on Sunday Dr. and Mrs. Wm. Taylor of Willow- dale were guests of the Mac- Farlanes. Mr. Kane from Scugog con- ducted church worship on Sunday morning in the ab. sence of Rev. D. Rally Day was observed at S.S. when Mr. Terry Hodgins of Prince Albert strove man- fully to keep a crowd of squirming youngsters inter- ested. He succeeded very well too. Also on the pro gram was a solo by Jimmy Hallett and "Jesus Loves Me" sung by a crowd of juniors, Diplomas and seals for at tendance were distributed to -quite-a-number-of members | and 3 ladies who each had more than 20 years on thtir record were honoured with a plaque hung in the S.S. room. Birthday offerings came from Cathie and Karen Carr and a newcomer Ricky Sedore. After S.S. Mr. and Mrs. Hodgins had dinner with Supt. Ken Sturman and his family.
