We don't like it when it rains | We're not happy when it SNOWS. Every one of us complains When a breeze no longer blows. Mr. and Mrs. Gourlie had just returned from a trip to the East Coast. Mrs. A. D. Christie and Miss Darlene and Mrs. M. Bailey were at C.N.E. on Thursday. . The Shivaree for Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rainey was a huge success. Mr. and Mrs. A..D. Christie and Miss Darlene attended the funeral of the late Mrs, Wm. Hopkins at Ashburn on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans and family were guests with Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Evans and family on Sunday. In the afternoon they visited Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Evans as did all members of the family in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Evan's thrity-ninth wed: ding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. T. Pickett and baby of Ottawa have been holiddying with her parents Mr. "& Mrs. W. Evans. There will be a corn roast on Wed. evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. Prentice. A going-away party for Miss Ruby Wilson and Miss Annie Yoe who leave on Friday for their work in Africa. Mr. Alan Lyons flew home from Port Arthur where he has been employed by Dept. of Lands and Forests for the summer. The family met him at Malton Airport on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Len Beach and family of Orillia were Sunday guests with her par- ents Mr. and Mrs. David Prentice. is Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Geer visited with her aunt Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson in Toronto on Sat. afternoon. Grant Kerry of Greenbank is visiting his friend Gordon Geer for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Geer & Brenda and Mrs. Geer's par- ents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ploughman were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. .Geer. Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Kaille of Guelph were over-night guests with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ashton. On Thursday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Asling were Rev. Mr. & Mrs. on Monday evening Mr.. and Mrs. Asling entertained Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Kaille of Guelph. At the Open House at Earl |; Wilson's last week over 350 guests were present. Mr. Douglas Wilson has returned home from camp on Saturday. The Kerry re-union was held at the home of Herman Kerry on Sunday. Nearly everyone atended as eighty- five signed the guest book. The weather was inclement' but did not dampen the spirits of a re-united family. Another re-union is planned for next year. Hill of Pine River and| Port Perry United Church was the scene of a midsum- mer wedding when Margaret Georgeen Burnett and Bruce Gordon Cochrane were unit- ed in marriage, on Saturday, August 5th, 1967. The bride is the only daughter of Mrs. George M. Burnett and the late Mr. Burnett and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Cochrane, of Raglan. Tall white standards of variegated pink and white Gladioli graced the chancel of the church, carrying out the pink and white theme of the bridal party. The Reverend Mr. Alec G. Rice officiated at the double ring ceremony and the wed- ding music was played by Mr. Glenn Taylor, of Bobcaygeon, who also accompanied the so- loist, Mr. Kenneth Hallett, of Oshawa, who sang "The Wed- ding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer" during the ceremony and signing of the fegister. The Bridal at- tendants were gowned in identical styled = floor-length sleeveless sheaths of delicate pink silk organza over taf- fetta. The Empire waist- lines. were accentuated by blended Rose designed appli- ques, complimented by floor length gathered capelets held in place over the arms by a circlet band of matching or- ganza and rosebuds. Their 'head adornment was a large natural pink-tinted centred white Chrysanthemums and they carried cascades of si- milar flowers interspersed with small pom-poms and ivy. Mr. Dennis Cochrane, of Raglan, acted as Bestman for his brother. The ushers were Mr. Robert Free, of Oshawa, Mr. Ivan Pascoe and Mr. Ed- ward Teno, of Port Perry. The groomsmen were all at- tired in black and white en- sembles. Following the ceremony a reception for one hundred & thirty-five guests was held at the Port Perry Canadian Le- gion Hall. Mrs. Burnett and her son received with the assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Cochrane and the Bridal party. The bride's mother was wearing an attractive after noon sheath-styled gown of Coffee Chantilly Lace over Bone Taffetta designed with three-quarter length trum. pet cuffed sleeves and ac- centuated by a matching satin bow at the tapered neckline.
