[ FAS strong contender -- for OASA 10 - PORT PERRY STAR MINOR SOFTBALL NEWS Port Perry IGA Pee Wees made a fine showing in the North York Pee Wee Tourna- ment on Saturday. In the first game they de- feated St. Catharines 17-3. Laurie Williams and Roland Skinner combined to allow only 3 hits. Bill Jeffery hit a home run for Port. In the second game which turned out to be a realthril- ler, the I.G.A. boys won 4-3 over Belleville. They trailed 1-0, 3-1 and after tying the score in the 5th inning they won the game in the 7th in- ning when Ron Redman dou- bled to score Steve Cochrane. Rick Evans pitched a steady game for the I.G.A. boys. In the. third game Willow- dale defeated the local boys 13-11. All three pitchers worked in this game as the team appeared to wilt per- haps from the excessive heat. The LG.A. boys did rally in the seventh inning for 4 runs but fell two short. All teams should attempt played well and the men who have coached them this sea-|. son: Don, Cochrane, Joe Fow- ler, Clare Nightingale and Doug MacMillan have a play. Tripps Const. Juniors lost a 2.0 ball game to Oshawa = Thursday, Aug. 3rd, 1967 Hughes pitched a 3 hitter for Tripps while Port picked up two hits. Once again fine defensive ball was displayed by both clubs with Tripp's unable to score men on base. If this club can come: up with base hits with men on, they should be a strong con- tender. All teams should attempt to catch up on any postponed games as ployoffs will start as follows: Junior Ladies-- Monday, August 21st Bantam Boys-- Monday, August 21st Bantam Girls-- Tues., August 8th Pee Wee--Mon., Aug. 14 Squqirt--Tues., Aug. 15.
