Bethel people were shock- ed to hear of the sudden death on Tuesday, July 11th of Mr. Fred Wray. Although he and his family have lived in Toronto quite a few years they have been frequent vi- sitors to the home place. We extend sympathy to his wife, sons and daughter and to his brother Ken, and sister Ida. Mr. Wilfred Sturman is confined to Port Perry hos- pital with congestion due to asthma. His family had planned a surprise party on Saturday evening to cele- brate their parent's 35th wedding anniversary so re- ceived special permission to bring their father home for a few hours. He found him- self quite ready to return at the end of the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Les Sturman and infant son of Cannington missed the celebration but spent Sunday with Mrs. Stur- man and Jean. A few days ago Mr. and Mrs. Alex Chalmers of West Kilbride, Scotland arrived by air for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Nodwell. Their friendship with the Nodwells dates from war time when Bob was overseas and was renewed a couple of years ago when Bob and daughter Rosemary were on a trip to Scotland. During his holidays last week Gordie McMillan paid a visit to his cousin Wally McMillan who is playing baseball for a London team this year. Doug McMillan had some holidays too but didn't go anywhere and that's news too. We seem to have several bits of news which aren't really news yet. For exam- ple we are told that in a few days we can expect definite word that Mr. J. S. Mac. Farlane has completed a sale whereby their farm home passes into other hands. Then coming up is a holi- day next week for our mer- chant B. McCaig of Greenbank.
