On Monday, June 19th the Women's Hospital Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. M. B. Dymond. The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer repeated in unison. President Mrs. Dymond welcomed the 15 ladies present with special mention to Mrs. Reta Rod- man, Oshawa and Miss Enid Gibbard, Vancouver, B. C. whom we were pleased to have with us. The minutes of the last meeting were read by our secretary, Mrs. B. L. Wana- maker, Mrs. G. Goode reported on the Spring Fair held recent- ly and the proceeds were $714.00. Mrs. Goode express- ed thanks on behalf of the committee to all who helped in any way to make the fair so successful. A discussion followed as to what to do with the knitted articles and aprons left over and a mo- tion was passed to leave this -~sale-of-articles-until-fall-and a decision to be made then. The treasurer Mrs. Don Crozier reported the follow- --ing-donations-were- received and are gratefully acknow- ledged. Spring Fair Anonymous ............ $50.00 Unit 4 U.C.W. Port Perry . $17.00 Get well wishes are wish- ed to Mr, Jack Manns and as Mrs. Manns our knitting con- vener was unable to be pre- sent, Mrs. Dymond reported that 27 babies had been born at the hospital in the first 5 months of 1967 and a Cen- tennial spoon has been sent to each mother, Mrs. A. McDermott reported that the committee had met in connection with the float for the Centennial parade on July 1st and ideas for de- corating were discussed. Tickets for the Centennial Ball on Oct. 14th were avail- able and handed out to sev- eral' representatives. Any- one wishing a ticket should contact Mrs. Dymond soon as only a limited number are available. Tickets for the draw on Sept. 4th will be ready in a week's time. Mrs. Gordon. GREENBANK U.C.W. AFTERNOON GROUP The June meeting of our U.C.W. was held in the S.S. rooms on Tuesday, June 6th at 2 p.m. Our pianist Mrs Phair played quiet music while the ladies assembled. Mrs. Beare gave the call to worship, followed by prayer. Hymn 7 was sung. Mrs. Harris read the scrip: "ture John 21vs. "15:19, 1 Pet: er 5 vs. 1-7. Mrs. Beare gave the meditation. Mrs. Harris led in prayer. The offering was received and dedicated. Mrs. Robt. Leask favored us with a solo "It was Love" Hymn 373 was sung. Mrs. Beare led in prayer. Mrs. H. McMillan read parts of a book written by Mary Till telling of pioneer days in Greenbank. Mrs. Harris showed us a film "World Missions" an in teresting 'story of the work of the church. Mrs. Harris closed the de votional with prayer. The supply committee gave a fine report of the bale sent. Arrangements were com: pleted to serve lunch after church on June 17th. The group in charge decided to have summer meeting in July. Mrs. Guy gave some inter- esting facts on stewardship. A few business details were taken care of and the meet- ing closed with the mizpah '| benedcition repeated in uni- son. Centen- nial Pot Luck Supper, and Programme held in the Sun- day School room, Wed., June 14th. During the supper hour a bounteous array of delect- able foods, tempted the most jaded appetite. Several members had baked lovely crusty loaves of home made bread which was much en- joyed by the goodly number present. 'It was a pleasure to wel- come SO many young coup- les with their families for this Annual event in the life of the church. : The Pres. of the U.C.W. Mrs. S. A. Cawker was M.C. for the evening. After ex- tending a warm welcome to one and all, she added a few timely thoughts about Fath- ers' Day. The programme was most entertaining -- a non-stop variety show with a real Centennial accent. raided their attics and came up with prized possessions, apparel, possibly worn by Grandma or Grandpa. The fashion sliow was a de- light--with Howard Hall as the commentator. The ele- gant costumes worn dated back to 1870 down through the years to the present time, and were most ingeni- ous,--and the antics of the models caused much merri- ment. Cameras clicked amid ~ Many Canada, and appropriate words by Rev. Alec Rice. Due to many requests this programme may be repeated in the Fall by the Units in charge. Responsible for this fine _programme,-- the tremend- ous amount of planning and hard work, was under the direction of Mrs. Wes. Lane, and Mrs. Howard Hall (pro- gramme conveners) and Mrs. Grant McDermott (costumes). A sincere thank you to these girls for their splendid ideas --the United Church mem- bers should feel proud of the talent in their midst. Thanks also to Mrs. J. E. Jackson (pianist) and Mrs. F. C. Hast- ings (song leader) for their contribution. We would like to show ap- preciation to the ladies who arranged the supper -- the setting of the tables, etc. --Mrs. Gord. Business Meeting After the programme was concluded,--a short business meeting was held. Import- ant items of business were discussed and voted on be- fore the summer recess. Members are reminded to | turin in Dessert recipes to Unit #9. A decigion was 'made to hold a Turkey Banquet in the Fall, Sept. 27th was chosen as a suitable date. An amount of money was voted to the new extension of the church. It was reported 34 boxes of clothing were packed and sent in our bale. The Vacation School will be held in Aug. commencing on the 14th. A motion was made that 2 members from each Unit will assist with the lunch at the school, each day--to be notified later.
