The first part of the evening was devoted to a few rounds of euchre as a result suitable pri- zes were handed to those hold- ing high and low count. At this time the guests of honour Lloyd and Eunice Hun- ter were invited to occupy two special chairs. Mr. Bruce Snel- grove read an appropriate ad- dress referring to the worth- while qualities of this couple. Mr. Earl Martyn on behalf of the group presented a pole lamp which we hope they will enjoy in the future. The re- cipients voiced their grateful thank-you, after which all well- wishers partook of the custom- ary liberal lunch and sociability prevailed 'till time to travel home. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Jones 'and family of Scarboro who have purchased and moved into the former Lloyd Hunter home. Several ladies from our area I'ea, Little Expo in Port Perry. Mrs. F. Brooks opened her home for a successful Amway Party Wednesay evening with Mrs. O. E. Croxall as demon- strator. Mrs. Croxall is also distributor for this district in praise of Amway Products. Mrs. G. Hunter and Mrs. L. Beacock attended the enjoyable U C.W. tea and exhibit of pion- eer articles held at the home of Mrs. Ross Lee, Kedron. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson entertained their nephew and wife Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gibson, Oshawa on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Doupe, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Sweetman and family were at a cottage at Trent River for the week-end. Little Leanne Simonds, Tor- onto is spending a few days with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Vance. Mrs. Fred Brooks, Robert and Garth were Sunday company with a neice Mrs. Gary Bickle and husband, at the Casa Man- anna Apts., Oshawa. Mr. & Mrs. C. Newnham and Gary spent the week-end at Canal Lake with her brother Mr. 4nd Mrs. Ed. Smiths and other relatives. Mr. Frank Vickery visited his daughter Mr. and Mrs. L. Welcome to. the Island. Mrs. C. Aldred and Mrs. R. Fralick have returned from Pittsburg. The plane ride home on Sunday was exceptionally rough. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cooper of Oshawa, Mr. Ross Sutherland, Miss Linda Fralick of Oshawa, Mr. Douglas Scott of Port Perry and Mr. and Mrs. J. Cairns of Toronto Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. C. Fralick. .Mr. and Mrs. L. Empringham and Brian spent Sunday in Agin- court with 'Mr. and Mrs. Alan Empringham. Mr. and Mrs. A. Krieg and daughter spent the week-end at 'their cottage, Bradley Lake. -- Mr. and Mrs. Brekke and Edna dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. Prentice on Sunday night. A Birthday Party. Mrs. M. Warren was in Wind- sor for the week-end attending the Tops Convention. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Muckle & Robert of Toronto spent the week-end at their cottage, at Aldred's Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Walker of Tor- onto Sunday night dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. Moore. So pleased to have so many of our cottages out on Sunday and the week-end. All are invited to attend. Lennox, of Port Elgin had charge of divine wor- ship here on Sunday, May 7th at 11.30 a.m., as a candidate for this charge. Mrs. W. Ham- ilton sang a solo. Rev. Lennox was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. Ashton. The W.M.S. Spring Thank Offering meeting was held in the Centennial Centre on Sun- day evening, May 7th at 7.30 with C.G.LT. members and vi- sitors from Oshawa and Cress- well present. The President, Mrs. F. Daw presided and the meeting open- ed with the singing of Hymn 578 "Dismiss me not Thy Ser- vice, Lord"' The scripture les- son was read by Mrs. H. Ash- ton followed with prayer by Mrs. R. Batten. : Mrs. E. Heron sang a solo. The speaker Mrs. Herrig, of the Armgah home for girls at Clark- son was introduced by Mrs. Lindsay Death. "Mrs. Herrig showed pictures of Armgah taken during Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, after which she answered ques- tions asked by the ladies. Mrs. Ralph Hyatt expressed our thanks to Mrs. Herrig. Coffee, fruit, bread and cheese was served and a social half hour enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Ashton and Mrs. W. Rogers, of Brook- lin, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kerry at Epsom.
