This arr- ival made both Mr. and Mrs. John Tobin and Mr. and Mrs. H. Davey grandparents for the first time, so she is a wonder- ful child. The only public social gather- ing during the! week was the Bruce party on Friday evening. This event which normally would have decurred before the moving was delayed because of Mrs. Bruce's hospital stay. A large crowd of friends includ- ing some relatives from Toron- to and Seagrave gathered in in the Sanday School room. Glenn Wanamaker acted as M.C. for the occasion and con- ducted a varity program con- sisting of vocal duets by Joyce Bruce and Diane Barr and the Barr twins, a piano solo by Nancy Wanamaker, readings by Mrs. D. Crosier, Mrs. Belair and Bill Barr as well as a centenn- ial quiz for the grown-ups and a jar rubber relay for the youngsters. An address was then read and gifts presented. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce were given lawn furniture and a bathroom set and Miss Marj. received jewellery. This lady had to be taken to Port Perry hospital for treat- ment on Thursday. We wish her a speedy recovery. Another of our patients, Mus. Neil McMillan was discharged from hospital on Sunday and we trust will not have another recurrence of plebitis. Hockey drags Yon. The Port Elgin-Little Britain play-off ser- ies resumed on Saturday and Sunday with Port Elgin winn- ing the first game and Little Britain the second. That counts up to two wins each and the series will continue to Port Elgin next week-end. At the Sat- urday evening game a draw was made for the colour T.V. and who do you suppose won it? Roy Scott of course. Some people have all the luck. Roy confessess he is. pretty tired after his overseas trip but this should help him recover. Mrs. Barr is a grass widow | again this week. One daywe passed his garage and this is what we saw. We were curious as to why a man who could afford a Rolls would have a Volkswagen. Instead of just guessing, we went right up and rang Charlie's door bell. "Sir," we said, "would you mind telling us why you own a Volks- wagen as well as a Rolls Royce?" From here on we'll quote - Charlie. "I bought a Volkswagen when | started in business several years ago, and | have nothing but good 'things to say about it. | guess | bought it for economical reasons, | got lucky Volkswagen just for the fun of it. but after awhile, | found it was really fun to drive...well anyway, and started making more money than | ever dreamed I'd make, and | figured that every- body is entitled to one big luxury in his life. Mine was the Rolls Royce. Butl never did get rid of the Volks- wagen. And I'll tell you why. | still get a lot of fun out of driving it .. you might say it keeps me young .. besides, these two cars make a tdi) balance in my life. The Rolls reminds me how far I've come, and just as important, the Volkswagen a reminds me of how | got there. | x think that's healthy... That's Charlie bei s story. Moral: Buy a Volks- #4 'wagen. It will help you § save up fora Rolls Royce. WERNER'S SERVICE CENTER, R.R. #4, Tel. 985-7162 Oshawa entertained Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wanamaker Saturday evening and Sunday.
