LJ s 4 ' ; LINDSAY RINK CAPTURES PENTLAND JEWELLER TROPHY On Tuesday, March 7th an Open Ladies Curling Bonspiel was held at the Port Perry Club. Up for competition for the first time was the beautiful Pentland Trophy, donated this year by Pentland Jewellers, Port Perry. Lawrence of Nestleton with Cecil Wilson and Dick Davison representing respect- ively the Historical Society and the Presbyterian Church Board, explained that the Presbyterian Church had given approval to deed to the Township a parcel of land being the westerly por- tion of their park in Nestleton as a location for the Museum which Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Law- . rence had donated to the Town- ship and which will be main- tained by the said Historical Society of Cartwright; the Council approved of the one "condition i.e. that at such time as the Historical Society or its successor should become inac- _ tive or extinct that the said property would then revert to the Presbyterian Church. A motion was passed that the de- cision rest until the subject of said park and Museum grounds could be approved by the C.C.R. Board for maintenance. A tentative project being a Sports day on June 29th with an open air dinner/Bar-B/cue ete. and on the following evening a Can- ada Birthday Party-Dance and midnight show. - Also a Tour or cavalcade to visit certain points in the Township and to finish up at the Caesarea Regatta. It is the wish and the desire of Council that the whole Town- ship will participate in these celebrations, and that most of the events will be self financed, but some municipal financing is anticipated and a tentative sum or interim advance of $500. with a ceiling of $1,000. was passed. By-Law 1141 having - been given two readings, companion By-Law #1141A establishing Roads Superintendent's Salary subject to D.H.O. approval was given three readings & passed. The 1967 Roads Budget as sug- gested by D.H.O. was discussed i.e. $17,000 for Construction & $37,000. for Maintenance. This does not included any supple- mentary appropriation and the sum of $8,000. more was sug- gested for a total of $62,000. or 'a reduction of Gross Roads ex- penditures from 1966 for 1967 of $5, 900. The informal lecture was based on some beautiful colour slides of their work project, and the country-side in Africa, in- cluding Lake Victoria.
