October 25, 1966 Editor, Port Perry Star, Dear Sir: Last Monday evening I had the unpleasant task of losing a Guide Company in Port Perry. I would like to express myself to the Public through your Paper concerning our Lo- cal Youth Organizations, Boy Scouts, Cubs, Girl Guides, C.G.I.T., Hockey, Baseball and other organizations for teen agers & children are more im- portant now than ever before. To-day's heavily organized a- dult society leaves little room for un-organized and spontane- ous recreation for youngsters. October 26th. Smith and mother of Neil and Glen of Columbus, in her 73rd year. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Osh- awa, with funeral service in the Chapel, Thursday, October 27, at 2 p.m. Interment Osh- awa Union Cemetery. Yet every organized group of youngsters requires an adult leader, and the sorry truth is that there are not enough lead- ers, This puts a strain men- tally and physically on . the faithful few who are left to work alone. Adults will spend any amount of money on schools, play- grounds, clothes, cars, and toys for their youngsters but they will not spend what the child- ren need most, namely time. Every one of us realizes how important it is that children be prepared to become useful a- dults for the confusing years ahead, and will hire teachers and playground supervisors to work with them, but will mot contribute their own time where we know it is most ur- gently needed. rie Sunday Schools cannot find teachers, juvenile hockey and ball clubs cannot find coaches, | Scouts and Guides cannot find leaders, and our own children are not getting the leadership and training they deserve and need, WHY? Because the a- dults are too busy. Actually they are not too busy. It's just that they are not using their time where it |}3 is most needed and will do the most good. Yours sincerely, Mary Enge (Mrs. D. E.) "Ford LT D People who love style buy Ford Narding More and more people are buying Ford enjoyment. Hardtops!
