By Olga Hill Thiry-five ladies spent a plea- gant afternoon in the Commun- ity Hall Wednesday, Sept. 7th and thoroughly enjoyed the very interesting and informa- tive address on Social Service given by Mrs. John McKibbon, Whitby. Rev. McKibbon was a former Rector of this Parish. Having left here about 17 years ago. Since then they served in All Saints Church, Toronto in Social Service work for 11 yrs. She related many interesting or pathetic or heart aching ex- perinces as well as the cheery side of this work. Her final message was "A Smile is Social Service Work", Mrs. Velva Bailey introduced Mrs. McKib- bon and Mrs. Arthur Bailey ex- tended the thanks. During the business period Mrs. Russel Mountjoy was ap- pointed delegate to the Annual Convention and Mrs. Velva Bailey alternate. Mrs. Henry Wotten is to be leader and Mrs. Ralph Larmer assistant of the 4-H girls club and the Insti- tute are to purchase the note books for the girls, Mrs. C. Smith brought a re- port from the Parks Board re the Arena. Happy birthday was sung for Mrs. W. W. Van Camp. The roll call, A Housekeeping Tip, was well answered. Mrs. Stanford Van Camp gave a fitting response to the motto--Worry never robs to- morrow of its sorrow, only saps today of its strength. Mrs. Marwood McKee gave the Current Events which clos- ed with the Queen after which lunch was served by the group with Mrs. F. Staniland conven- or and a social time was en- joyed. Dolly Lee was hostess for the 0.N.O. club meeting on Thurs- day night when 25 members & one visitor attended. Joan 'Paisley reported for the Parks Board. Members are asked to hand in their C.P. labels at next meeting, also bring suggestions for the New Year's Dance. Correspondence contained a letter of thanks from Grant Campbell, also a letter from the Council. Roll was well answered with --What was my worst punish- ment at school. Two contests were enjoyed. Lunch was served by the host- ess & her group. Next meeting to be at Noreen Malcolm's and roll call to be Books or toys for the Children's Aid. In the absence of the Presi- dent, Norma Van Camp, Jessie Gunter presided. Schools got going into full swing last Tuesday.
