McCARTHUR Dr. John Alexander McAr- thur. passed away, July 2bth, 1966 in Port Perry Community Hospital. He was 77 years of age. Altho in failing health for several years, death came "suddenly, due to a stroke, "Dr. -MecArthur was born at Greenbank Ontario, a son of "the late Neil and Mary Watson McArthur He received his education in Greenbank Public School, Port Perry High School, and University of Western On- tario Medical School. He gra- duated in 1914. He was in Canadian Army of World War I but because of rheumatic fever was unable to do active service overseas. i He interned in Toronto Wes tern Hospital, served as the only Doctor at Burwash Reformatory and later at the Ontario Hos- pital in New Toronto, before entering into private practice with his brother Dr. A. D. Mec- Arthur in 1918, In 1925 he took over the whole practice when his brother moved to Tor- onto. In 1932 he married Lor- inza Dempsey. He has been a resident of Blackstock for 48 years and a General Practition- er for 52 years. He was semi retired the last few years. As a youth he was a member of Greenbank Presbyterian church and since marriage has attended the Anglican in Blackstock.
