Guests were present from Toronto, Oshawa, Agincourt, Unionville, Mark- ham, Bowmanville, Scugog, Blackwater and Scotland. On Tuesday evening, the ac- tual day, the couple were enter- tained at dinner at Sprirce Villa by their son Kenneth and his wife; Maureen and daugliters Shirley and Nancy and friend Donald Gibson. On their return home they were very pleasantly surprised by a houseful of rela- tives who came to honour their brother and sister on this im- portant milestone in their lives, Mrs. Wood who .is 73 years of age, "daughter Jean and on) E daughter Tammy. 69 Attend Crop Tour Approsinntely 65 Ontario County farmers attended a "Sunrise" Crop Tour held in the County, on Thursday morn- ing, July 21st. The tour was arranged for all farmers interested in crop | production, and was conducted by Mr. Harvey Wright, Region- al Soils and Crops Specialist for this area. The tour began at the farm of Mr. Charles Hadden, R.R. 1, Blackwater.. Here the group observed the Haddens' soybean | plots, noting such factors as weed control and row width. The next stop was at the farm of Bob Creighton, R.R. 1, Cannington, where the subject of interest was corn. Again weed control was discussed, a- long with other production practices. Variety plots, main- tained under the supervision of 'the Ontario Department of Ag- riculture, were also observed. The tour concluded with an inspection of the barley plots at the farm of Mr, Russell Marrison, R.R. 2, Beaverton. Here the characteristics and production aspects of several barley varieties were pointed out to the group. The tour was arrange through the co-operation of the Ontario Department of -Agri- culture and the Ontario County Soil and Crop Improvement As- sociation. Cedar Creek Ronnie Willerton is attend-| ing summer school at McMaster University at Hamilton. Miss Debbie Larocque visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr, and Mrs. John Phillips, at Raglan for a week. Karin Cumming visited her cousin, Linda Trick, at Epsom for.a week. Mis. Edwin Hartry of Thorn- bury is-visiting her sister, Mrs. James Kirby, and Mr. & Mrs, James Blain, Mrs. John den Boer's hota and family of Gtand Rapids, Michigan, U.S.A. has been vi- siting the den Boer family for a week. 4 Miss Audrey Farrow of South River is visiting her sister, Mrs, Norris Doherty and family.
