The children marched to the front and placed their mite boxes in the "Little Church" set there to receive them. Martha Lawrence read the lesson. Brian Wolfe read the special prayer. Robert Ar- cher and Donald Edgerton ga- thered the offering. Rev. R. C. Rose preached a very interast- ing sermon on "God's Love", The W.A. of St. John's church held their regular meeting in the Parish Hall on the evening of April 14th with the President Mrs. Lawrence in the chair. The Devotional period was conducted by Mrs-J. A. McArthur.' The usual procedure was followed, Plans were made for the Mo- thers' Day Supper to be held on May 6th. The attention of the "members was drawn to the Osh- awa Deanery meeting to be held as St. <Mark's Church Oshawa on April 20th and the W.A. An- nual meeting to be held at Church House, Toronto on May 3rd and 4th. Two beautiful quilt tops, made and donated by Mrs. Russell Brown were grate- fully received, The meeting closed with prayer. Mrs. V. Bailey and Mrs. H. MeLaughlin were gracious hostesses. More than 100 people enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner in the Recreation Centre Black- stock on Wednesday evening, April 13. Mr. Wm, Slater thanked the speaker for his address, Mrs. Ken Gray and son David, form-* erly of Cadmus, played several selections on the piano. The Family Dance sponsored by the 0.N.O. Club was held in the Recreation Centre Friday night. A good time is reported, Music was provided by "The Scugog Islanders" orchestra. Prizes were won as follows: Elimination dance--Ralph Lar- mer and daughter Sharon; first spot dance--Laurie Turner and Kathy Gunter; second spot, dance--Janis Dorrell and Mary Lou Malcolm. Sincere sympathy is extended Mr. Harold Swain and family, brothers and sisters and rela- tives on the sudden death of Mrs. Swain Saturday morning. Also sympathy to Mrs. Wm.
