We had ben receiving good reports about his condition after surgery so his death came as quite a shock, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dowson also suffered bereavement last week due to the death of a bro- ther Mr. Gordon Dowson of Lindsay. Still another death among our friends was that of Mrs. Gordon Forman (Vera Thompson) of Oshawa The late Mrs, Forman and her sister lived here during their school years with Mr. and Mrs. Walter King. We extend sympathy to all these families who have been passing through deep trouble, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Boe are again in the news. After a nice long stay in the sunny south they arrived home a week ago. This week-end they are enter- taining their son Carl, his wife and sons from Kingston. We can think of better places to spend a birthday than a hos- pital but that happened to Mrs. Clara Sleep who had to return to hospital on Wednesday, so spent her 89th birthday there. We wish her improved health for her 90th year. Another for whom we wish improvement is Mr. Cliff Har- per whose illnesses keep recur- ring and putting him under the doctor's care, In a more cheerful mood we note that Clifford Moon is feel ing quite pleased with himself. The reason -- As a student in Grade 11 P.P.H.S. he headed his class at both the Christmas an Easter examinations so earrfed a two-week expense-paid trip the West in summer holidays a long with winning students from other schools. Wayne & Lynda Wanamaker, Oshawa are having a holiday with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs, B. Wanamaker, Mrs. Hurst's sisters, Mrs, H, Bellamy, Toronto and Mrs. J. Burnside. Oshawa, spent Easter with the Hurst family as did Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hurst and family of Hampton, Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs, Butt were Mr and Mus, Vie, Sharpe, Lindsay, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Clarke, Port Hoover and Mr. and Mrs. Allistar Run- dle, Brooklin. - Then on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Grant Butt, Gail and Ricky and Mr, Dorian Butt and Daphne were at that home, Visitors at "Tobin's Turn" this week-end were Mr. & Murs, Frank Tobin, Pt. Perry and Det. Dennis and Mrs. Tobin, Oshawa. This was "All-Out" Sunday. We weren't all out but attend- ance was about what it could and should be every Sunday. Beautiful baskets of flowers were placed in the church in memory of the late Mr, Milt, Stone and the late Mrs, Robt, Thompson. Services next week at the usual hours. Worship 10 a.m. and S.S. at 11 am, The U.C.W. meeting will be held one week later than usual on April 20th, This change was because we wished to have Mr. Suphal speak about Trinidad.
