Hill At the March General Meet- ing of the U,C.W. the President opened with a Bible verse, then welcomed all especially the guest speaker Mrs. Hibbard of West Hill who gave a very in- teresting address on Life Cus- toms and Conditions as she found them in Brazil when visit- ing her son and family there last spring. Mrs, C. Hill thanked the speaker. A little Brazilian Folk Song was sung by all, "Thanks to God". During the business period re- ports were heard from all units. Secretary, Treasurer, Friend- ship and visiting leaders. Two letters of thanks for flowers were read. Columbus bazaar, May 4th announced, Donation to Port Prry Hospital Spring Fair decided. Decided to pur- chase a new light for the church organ. A committee was ap- pointed to look into advisability of erecting a church sign. Fol- lowing the Benediction a dainty lunch was served by the Anna group. On the serviettes used was a mip of Brazil and several pictures showing customs, Special Anglican and United Church Fellowship meetings were held last week--Monday & Thursday evenings in St. John's --Tuesday & Friday in United. Second debate -- Should Capital Punishment be abolish- ed? was taken by Judy Coch- rane and Betty Bradburn, af- firmative, and Judy Swain and Douglas Metcalf, negative. Very interesting discussions followed each debate. Rev. P. Romeril conducted the closing devotions, Lunch and social time followed. Prize winners at the L.O.B.A. euchre Wednesday were Mrs. Charles Smith, Mr. Carl Wright and Mrs. Marwood McKee. Mr. and Mrs, Harry VanCamp returned home from Florida on Thursday. Saturday evening 25 Girl Guides, Leaders and friends at- tended a Gold Cord Cermony for Central and Toronto Area Guides at McLaughlin Collegi- ate Institute, Oshawa.
