E, Oshawa HG ¥ SATE Port Perry Will Host 66 Squirt Championship The Ontario Amateur Soft- ball Assoc. held the 44th Annual Convention in Scarboro on the past weekend and a fine delega- tion from Port Perry was on hand. Three major changes were made to the Bylaws this year: the series in Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget will be split into an "A" series over 15,000 Popula- tion and a "B" series under 15,000 population; the Bantam series will now use the 12 inch ball; all series from ~ Senior down to Juvenile will now use the 60 ft. bases, pitch from 43 feet and a runner may leave his base when the ball has left the pitcher's hand. This new rule will affect the Tripps Const. Juvenile Club, The 1965 executive was re- turned to office with but one change in the voting but with the six appointments the 1966 executive is unchanged. Mr. Harold Dormer of Peterboro is again President. The O.A.S.A. has approved Port Perry as the site for the 1966 Ont, Squirt Championship Tournament which will be held on Sept. 10. This championship was held here in 1963 and the meeting fully endorsed Port Perry after the fine job done in 1963. The young boys who will be trying out to make the Legion Squirts this year will not only be carrying on for our last years Champs but will have the opportunity to play in their home town if they are'able to win the zone 4 honors. A full report of this conven- tion will be given at the Minor Softball General Meeting which will be held on Sunday, April 17, 7.30 p.m. at the Arena.
