"Cy" Richardson, who will direct Ux- bridge and Sutton Rural Oper- ating Areas, was born and edu- cated in Penetanguishene and completed a business course at Midland College, In 1936 he became a member of the Ontario Hydro staff at Penetanguishene Rural Operating Area office. His Hydro service was inter- rupted by World War II, when he joined the Canadian army in 1940. Starting as a private, Cy Richardson rapidly won promo- tion and served as a Lieutenant | - in the Tank Corps, During the invasion of Western Europe he was wounded, losing his left foot in the severe fighting at Falaise Gap. He was dis- charged. after convalesence, in 1946. On returning to Canada, Cy Richardson obtained his Senior Matriculation and also attended the University of Toronto for a year. Then he rejoined Ontario Hydro staff as a Senior Clerk at the Penetapguishene Rural Operating Area office. In 1948 he became Assistant Superin- tendent there, Two years later in the Fall of 1950, Mr. Rich- ardson was promoted to Area Manager at Uxbridge Rural Operating Area, where he has ably served since that time.
