Shield 'for the highest number of pts, attained at the Lions Club Music Festival held at Sunderland last Friday. Epsom 'School S.A.T.B. Choir will sing at "Festival of Stars" in Sunderland Monday, March 28th. Three soloists were entered in the competition. They were: Brian Slute, boys solo, 10 yrs.;! Brian placed 2nd with 84 mks. Bonnie Pegler, solo for P.S. trained voice placed second with 83 marks. Bill Slute, boys solo, 12 yrs, with 82 marks placed third. Five choirs were entered: I. Intermediate Choir with Descant placed 2nd with 86 marks. 2. S.A T.B. Choir with 83 marks won the George E, Ed- wards Shield. 3.The S.S.A. Choir placed 2nd with 86 points, 4. S.S.A. Choir Grades 5, 6. 7, 8 received 82 marks. 5. Three part Boys Choir re- ceived 81 marks. This effort has meant a great deal of preparation and train. ing, and we do congratulate the pupils for success but also a great big congratulation and thank you for their dedicated teachers and their music direct- or Mrs. Frances Sanderson for I am sure their effort was just as great as that of the children. Just another example of team- work. It really pays big divid- ends, Miss Geraldine Byers & Miss Anne Brown of Toronto are Student Teachers at No. 3 Ep- som. who are staying with Mus. Christie this week. Miss Gail Cottyn and friend are Student Teachers at Ux- bridge P.S. and are staying with Gail's Parents Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cottyn. Mr. Donald and Irving of Bradford visited at the home of Mr .and Mrs. A. D. Christie re- cently. Mr. John Millman was home during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ashton were week-end guests with Mr, and Mrs. Barry Bushell in Osh- awa. They called on Mrs. Wal- ter Ashton who is able to leave the hospital and is now staying at Hillsdale Manor. Mr. Donald Asling and Mr, David McKifiley attended a Presbytery plecting at Maple on Tuesday.' The U.C.W. extend a hearty welcome to one and all to at- tend an open meeting Wed. 8th at the church at 2.30 p.m. There will be a guest speaker from the Hospital Auxiliary. Group 1 in charge. Come and bring a friend. Mr. Keith Wilson was home for the week-end with his par- ents Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wil- son. Mr. Donald Asling took the service at Kettleby bright and early last Sunday morning. These good folks have their ser« vice commence at 9.30 and we seem to find it difficult to make it to Sunday School by 10.30. This has been a weekly event all winter but house-cleaning is rearing it's ugly head so maybe we will have to forego a few meetings. Those who are, or have been ill with the flu are too numer- ous to mention, but we sure hope spring weather will clear Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Hugginsd a few bugs out of the air.
