Thomp- son had passed away quietly in her sleep. Mrs. Thompson vi- siting her native land for the winter had planned returning to Canada on March 26th. She will be missed in Seagrave, where she has lived for 26 years, Plans are for cremation with burial in the Thompson plot in Scotland, We extend sympathy to her relatives Mr. and Mrs. Norman Vincent of Montreal. The village experienced a long power cut-off last Monday due to a transformer burning out. Mr, and Mrs, W. Sturman and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sturman whose homes are close to the transformer suffered extensive damage to T.V. & Hi-Fi and electrical appliances. Judging from the week of ac- tivity in church circles, spring must be here, On Monday evening a meet- ing of the S, S. planned services for Mother's Day on May 8th, and Anniversary services for May 22nd. Rev. W. R, Tris- tram, Port Perry will be guest speaker at morning and evening services, There will be no din- ner served this year. The Board of Stewards held a business meeting on Tuesday evening. Discussion took place regarding caretaking, repairs, etc. A suggestion that the church basement be used for euchres was turned down. On Wed. evening it was the U.C.W. that met under direction of Unit 1, That Unit has two leaders this year, Mrs. Tobin and Mrs. Ken Short, se we can expect to go somewhere. Thursday's gathering was of Unit 2 U.C.W. which met at the home of Mrs. A. Bruce, These ladies will need to dust off their rolling- pins. On Sat.,, March 19th they will be serving lunch at the farm sale of Mr, Bernard Standish. On Fri, April 1st they will serve a variety supper in the church basement, after which Mr. Tuddenham of Tor- onto will éntertain with tricks of magic. That should be inter. esting and on April Fool's day too. The same ladies will be in charge of the April U.C.W. meeting which is expected to be held April 20th, and also help provide for the Spring Tea on April 80th, That wasn't enough so plans were started for two April Showers, Mr. and Mrs, G. Wanamaker and Mrs, Belair represented Seagrave at the TB clinic held in Port Perry on Thursday evening. The tuberculin survey will take place on April 27, 28 and 29 in the Municipal build- ing with readings and Xrays on May 2, 3 and 4. Before that time all families will be con- tacted and some will be asked to give assistance, They ask your co-operation. In spite of years of experi- ence, Mrs. King, Mrs. Otto, Mrs. Harding and Mrs. Eagleson felt they needed more instruction so attended a cooking school spon- sored by Loblaws in the new hall of St. Mary's Church, Lind- say on Saturday. Sunday was receiving day for Mr. and Mrs. A. Bruce, Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Roulston, David, Barry and Bruce of Toronto and Mr, and Mrs. Bruce Heaslip of Nes- tleton. - From Toronto on the week- end we had the Tristram family with Mr. and Mrs. Eagleson, Mr. and Mrs. Groves with the Garfield Stones and Mr. & Mrs, Harold Moon with the home folks. Miss Sylvia Wanamaker spent the week-end with the Demara family of Scugog. Mrs. Nodwell is spending a few days with her husband's | sister in Sudbury. The sideroads were not suf- ficiently cleared of ice to allow good attendance at Sunday ser- vices. S. S. attendance fell be- low the average at 72. Three members of the In-between class Darlene Watts, Larry Short and Robbie Abraham illustrated the Twenty-third Psalm by flannel- graph, while Calvin Nicholls did the reading.
