Rangers Conduct Gold Cord Service ww The Gold Cord 'coremonies which were held in the United Church at Port Perry, recently, took somewhat of a different trend when the service was taken entirely by the Rangers with the assistance of two ministers, Reverend Mr. Rose of the Anglican Church and Rev- erend Mr. Rice of the United, the Beauty of the Earth" was sung by the entire-eongregation while the brownies, guides and) rangers assembled, . After the. presentation of the colours, followed by the Nation- al Anthem, a poem composed by Mr. W. Drew, was read by Ranger Lynne Beare and the Ranger Prayer was repeated in Chapter 3 and read by Ranger Gayle Wright, followed by the hymn: "Will Your Anchor hold in the Storms of Life." The Ranger Promise, was given by Linda Jefford, Patricia Healey, and Catherine Nelson the Gold Cord recipients. The highlight of the evening ' was the presentation of the Gold Cord to guides who had worked hard through the years to at- tain this coveted award. Mrs. John Jefford had the honour of presenting the Gold Cord to her daughter Linda; PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, Dec. 2, 1965-7 cheson) a former Port Perry Guide Leader was chosen to present Catheriné Nelson with her Gold Cord. The guest soloist, Barbara Taylor delightfully rendered the | Lor d's Prayer and "The Song of the Golden Trefoil".
