She announced that she was happy to assume the responsi- bilities of president for another year and thanked all the mem- bers and organizations for their loyal support and co-operation. Volunteer workers play an im- portant role in the building up and maintaining of hospital services in the community, which are administered to any- one in need of them, regardless of colour, class or creed. In Port Perry we are looking forward to a new building and a new modern hospital. "A milestone where love and humanity meet" and we toast the doctors, nur- ses, and all the willing workers who dedicate their lives to the sick and injured. Mrs. Dymond also gave an interesting and vivid talk on her recent tour of the U.S.S.R. and showed some beautiful slides of various Soviet cities, such as Leningrad, Kiev, Sochi, & Mos- cow. In Russia 80% of the doctors are women, She had high praise for the Ambulance Service which is speedy and ef- ficient. However, the absolute State control is rather frighten- ing and it is good to breathe the frce air of Canada once more. Meinbers of the auxiliary ser- ved téa and refreshments to the visito#s. County Juniors Place Second At Royal Fair Ontario County. was well represented in the Inter-County Livestock Judging Competition at the Royal Agricultural Win- ter Fair on Thursday, Nov. 11, The Ontario County team, consisting of Carle Parliament of R. #2, Cannington, Keith Phoenix of Greenbank, and Fred Waines of R. #1, Can- nington, placed second out of thirteen teams at the Royal; following the winning North Simcoe team by 25 points. Keith Phoenix was 2nd in the competition, with a score of 884 out of a possible 1,000 points. Fred Waines was awar- ded the gold medal for high individual in beef cattle. The Ontario County team, supported by alternate Fhed Catherwood of R. #2, Ux- bridge, had participated in a series of judging tours and programmes:prior to competing at the Royal. Within the County the team had visited the herds of Neil Raines, R. #2, Black- water; John Leask, R. #2, Sea- grave, and Elvin and Ken Beggs, R. #2, Sunderland. The team was coached by Bill Cooper, Assistant Agricul- tural Representative for Ont. County. Armistice Day (Continued) Bearers flanked the doors. Reverend Alec G. Rice, B.A,, minister of the church, received the colors and the congregation remained standing to sing "The Queen", The Choir sang their own ar- rangement of the third verse of the Queen with Miss Gloria Hastings at the organ and Mrs. Frank Hastings leading. Later in the service these magnificent voices were. blended to perfection in the singing of "The Battle Hymn of the Re- public" and "There is mo Death". With Reverend Rice co-ordin- ating the service the Legion President led the congregation in reading 'Song of the Fathers' and the Legion Padre Reverend W. R. Tristram read selected passages from the Old Testa- ment. Reverend Tristram, a Veteran of World War I, gave the Ser- mon entitled "They were a Wall unto' 1s" His stirring story was 'sprinkled with personal PORT PERRY INT. WIN OPENER HERE After dropping a' 6-5 decision in Sunderland last Saturday night the Port Perry Interme- diates (Tripp's Bulldozers) came back strong Tuesday even- ing in Port Perry and defeated the Sutton-Keswick Twins 6-1 to win their opening home game. The Bulldozers got off to a slow start in the first period not being able to get organized before the Twins drew first blood when Pegg beat Topping in the Port net. It was not un- til the 14.39 mark when rookie Barry Oke combined with an- other rookie, Dave Ballingall, got Port underway and put them back on even terms. From this point on the Bulldozers never looked back. Barry Oke picked up his se- cond tally of the night at the 6.31 mark of the second stanza with Ballingall and Carnegie assisting. Port outplayed their rivals throughout this period but were unable to beat Outman in the Twins net. The Bulldozers lived up to their name in the third period scoring four unanswered goals. Oke picked up the hat trick by tll---- < was well received by those pre- sent. At the close of the service the colours were retired, the parade re-formed and moved back to Water Street where the Presi- dent thanked all those who took part in the service and invited all to the Legion Hall for refreshments and a light lunch prepared by the L.A. scoring at 65.42 from Venning and Carnegie. Parry made it 4-1 at 8.33 combining with Mec- Nenley and Roberts. Bryant & Venning made it 6-1 at the 16.17 and 18.34 marks, Guy and Mur- phy assisting on Bryant's goal and Guy and Carnegie clicking with Venning. At Queen's Guineas Six 4-H members will be representing Ontario County in the Queen's Guineas at the Royal Winter Fair on Friday, November 19th. Each of the steers has met the rate of grain required of 2 lbs. per day or over a 150 day feeding period, and will be subjected to a culling commit- tee upon arrival at the Royal.
