She welcomed the members and visitors, making special mention of Mrs, C. Co- veter who was a former High School teacher in Port Perry. The Devotional period was taken by Mrs. Geo. Hall and Mrs, B. Pickard of Unit &. A short silence in memory of the late Mrs. Jewel Tristram was observed, followed by pray- er by Mrs. Griffen, Mrs. Griffen reminded all of the Annual Bazaar coming up on Saturday, Nov. 20th and re- quested that all articles other than baking be brought in Fri- day evening. To the surprise of some, she assured us it is not cold at the Arctic Circle. Her description of the Midnight Sun was very interesting. While in England Mr. & Mrs. Coulter visited the grave of his brother killed in the first world war. They were impressed with the beautifully Jap Canadian Cemetery, retained by the Cana- dian Government, with a rose blooming on every grave. With regard to War Memor- ials, in Denmark their attention was drawn to a statue of a man depicting the horror of war. Mrs. Coulter feels there should be more memorials such as this to keep the suffering of war ever before us, which might PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, Nov. 18, 1965 -- 11 AT REST BEARE, Edith Leola -- At Cooper's Nursing Home, New- market, Ontario on Sunday, Nov. 14th, 1965, Edith Leola Beare (formerly of McKeesport Pa., beloved daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Beare and sister of the late Maria (Mrs. Will Stevens), Cecil, Mal- colm & Earl, in her 86th year.
