Martyn on Wed. evening, Nov. 8rd with a thought sug- gested by one of Jack Miner's favourite sayings. The Devotional period includ- ed an opening hymn, prayer by Mrs. N. Reader, Scripture from Psalm 65 (God in nature) by Mrs. C. Carter and the topic taken by Mrs. J. Manns. The study was "The Book that Talks". Rev. Teskey assisted in the discussion and showed the difference in the Word and Words by reading four versions of familiar Scripture. In the roll call it was request- ed to recall one of the teachers who stood out in our memory and the reason. A skit "Putting Spice into Housekeeping" was enacted by Betty Reader, Dorothy Martyn, Myrtle Manns and Marion Car- ter. Although it was humorous and contained many good sug- gestions many of our own busy housewives decided it was just not for them. Dorothy Martyn read an amusing story entitled, "The little black bag". It cer- tainly was enlightening to a puzzled little mind. In the business period it was decided that we cater to a sup- per, Dec. 4th to the Scugog Charge Official Board. There- fore we are preparing for at least 76. As the study period takes such a long period, it was plan- ned to purchase a study book for each member who will at- tempt to be prepared for the discussion. Most of the Thanksgiving sox were turned in and also a large number of donations toward the bale. Please remember your gift for your mystery sister at the Dec. meeting. Several Island ladies particu- larly from the "Head" took ad- vantage of the opportunity to learn more about Russia, as they viewed Mrs. Rymond's pic- tures as shown in the munieci- pal Hall at the Annual Hospital meeting. The pictures of the "Wall" between east and west Berlin were also enjoyed. Obituary DR.
