Tuesday morning 11 members of the Candace unit met at the home of Mrs. Dalton Dorrell. Follow- ing coffee and social half hour Mrs. P. Romeril took the Wor- ship on Gambling. A new hymn "Be Thou My Vision, Oh Lord of my Heart" was prac- tised. Scripture 1 Timothy 6:8-14 was read and prayer of- fered. Rest of time was spent in rehearsing programme for General Meeting Tuesday. Final plans for concert Fri., ete. Closed with prayer by Mrs. Ro- meril. Five members & one child of the Anna Unit met at the home of Mrs. Russel Mountjoy Tues- day afternoon. Mrs. Kenneth Samells presiding. Following opening prayer and hymn and business the parts for play for General Meeting were given out. A discussion on first part of study book "Jesus Christ and te Christian Life". Meeting closed with the Mizpah Benedic- tion. Mrs. Stanford Van Camp was hostess for the 9 members of the Dorcas Unit Wed. p.m. Mrs. Walter Wright conducted the worship which consisted of Call' to worship, Hymn, Prayer, Seri- pture passage and Story of the Cobbler who learned that "In as much as Ye did it to one of these, Ye did it to me" and the offering and prayer. Mrs. Lloyd Wright brought several very helpful thoughts on "How good is your Mental Health? A new approach and how to maintain Mental Health. Each member told of some trip or holiday she had during the summer. Mrs. Walter Wright read the poem "The Drowning of Ten" which she received from Hay Bay Church. Mrs. C. Hill led the discussion on the first chapter of "Jesus Christ & the Christian Church". Following the business period the meeting closed with hymn 465 and prayer by leader. All enjoyed viewing the large vari- ety of souvenirs and various articles that Doreen VanCamp had brought home from India. Mrs. Ivan Mountjoy was hos- tess for the Esther Unit on Wednesday evening when 13 ladies attended. Leader Mrs. Bruce Mountjoy opened with a reading. Routine business announcements stress ing Regional Rally ete. was dealt with. The Worship was led by Mrs. Merrill Van Camp who read a poem--"Try a Little Kindness". Scripture Luke 12: 16-31 was bearing on the mean- ing of life". Hymn 500 was sung. Silent prayer for the be- reaved and ill was followed by prayer and Benediction, after which a good discussion on the last chapter of God and His Purpose "God is the Meaning of Life" took place. At the first euchre party of the L.0.B.A. for the winter months, which was held Wed- nesday night prize winners were: High lady -- Mrs. Velva Bailey; High gent--Mrs. James Gibson. Door prize Mrs. Olga Hill. Services in both churches were well attended Sunday morning. In the United the choir sang as their Anthem "A Moment with Thee". Rev. Ro- meril spoke most impressively on "When Sorrows Come". In St. John's Canon Ashmore chose as the text for his fine sermon "Spirit of Truth. Ye shall Testify of me and Ye shall also Bear Witness." This Community was shocked again last Tuesday when it learned of the tragic accident, when Mrs, Jack Bonnetta was killed and Mr. Bonnetta seri- ously injured. Sincerest sym- pathy is extended Mr. Bonnetta whom we trust will be cured ere too long and the family-- Glenn, Gail and Guy. A good number from here partook of the wonderful tur- key supper in Cadmus Wednes- day evening. Also a large number enjoyed the excellent chicken pie supper put on by the members of St. John's Church Friday evening. Mrs... E. MacDougald, St. Marys, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Larmer and boys. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ferguson and Alan spent Saturday night and Sunday with her mother & brother Mrs. H. McKee and Hugh Norwich. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright, Oshawa, were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLaughlin. Mrs: Ella Venning, Mr. and Mrs. T. Samells accompanied Mr, and Mrs. Vincent Archer of Bowmanville to Bobcaygeon on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dunsmoor visited in Durham during the week-end. Mr. Elmer Archer, Whitby and Miss Marilyn Archer Peter- boro visited Mr. and Mrs. Wil- bert Archer Saturday. Miss Sylvia Lawrence and her mother were hostesses for a miscellaneous shower for Miss Carol Blythe Saturday after- noon, Sept. 16th. 25 girls sur- prised Carol. Some games were played, then the bride-to-be opened, admired and displayed her gifts. After she had ex- pressed her thanks a dainty lunch was served. Those who were unable to at- tend "Moods in which was presented by Port Perry United Church Choir in the Recreation Centre, Black- stock Friday night, Oct. 23rd, missed a real treat.
