Dr.Vipond Shows Confidence Dr. Claude Vipond, Liberal Candidate was most optimistic about the outcome of the Nov- 8th election. Speaking to cam- paign workers from throughout the riding Dr. Vipond said, "We shall win! We shall win this riding and we shall win a ma- jority. With three weeks to go in the campaign the opposition have offered the voter nothing but abuse and character assas- sinations. They have no policy. Their leaders have made little more than out of hand promises that would not stand up under examination." "My confidence," Dr. Vipond continued, "does not originate from anything as negative as this however, it arises because. I have faith in the people to render a fair judgement. I be- lieve the people will recognize the past two and a half years as a. period of action, a period of progress, and a period of prosperity. I am certain the people will give credit where credit is due. I know the people are weary of the confusion, the uncertainty, the detrimental af- fect of minority government. Therein, ladies and gentlemen, lies our victory." Plan now to get all those jobs done this winter. Things like having the lawnmower fixed, and the screens mended; having the car tuned up and outboard motor checked; having the drapes cleaned and the rugs shampooed; having the furniture re-upholstered and the electrical appliances repaired; hav- planner now, ing all those repair and renovation jobs done which can call for a long wait come Spring, but which can be handled quickly, efficiently and easily during the winter season. MacEachen, Minister of Labour, Canada Break-Ins (Continued) $7.50 cash in the house, so the house across the road, that of Mr. and Mrs. Orville. Boe was attempted. Mr. Boe reports that a chair and tools were taken from his garage with the apparent inten- tion of taking off a storm win- dow. Apparently one man stood on the chair at the window, while another attempted to op- en the front door. However, after breaking the lock of the inner door, the thives must have either been scared off, or de- cided to give up, as there was no evidence of their having been inside the house. In the Seagrave cases, the O.P.P. were alerted and officers were in- vestigating next day. However, Port Perry resi- dents are still no wiser as to the identity of the culprits and to date, this makes seven break- ins in Port Perry, including the Legion Hall on September 25th. Prior to the Legion's loss of $200 in Cash, four homes were attempted (with 8 successful) on Saturday, September 4th. The following Wednesday, September 8th, two other hous- es were ransacked and robbed. 4-H CLUB NEWS The east group of the 4-H Homemakers met at the home of their leader, Miss A.
