Last week we gasped pleased surprise When Greenbank news was read. Their lady scribe discarded prose 1 And wrote in verse instead. From this time forth we can expect Their news to come in rhyme And facts reported for the in week In poetry sublime. When Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Clarke of Little Britain visited the Butt family on Sept. 19th, they were completely surprised to find 45 or 650 relatives fyo, Port Perry, Whitby, Littl is tain, Scarborough and Toronto on hand to help them celebrate their golden wedding anniver- sary. The pleasant re-union was followed by the traditional turkey dinner at which the bride and groom of 50 years ago cut a wedding cake made by their daughters. Greetings were received from Gov. Gen. Vanier, Opposition leader Die- fenbaker, Michael Starr, M.P., Premier Robarts and Dr. M. B. Dymond, M.P.P. The couple also were the re- cipients of many beautiful and useful gifts. Is Mrs. Allan Bertrand is spend- ing a few days with. her son Jim and his family in St. Therese P.Q. Misses Brenda Webster and Janice Dowson, Port Perry, spent the week-end with Mr. & Mrs. O. J. Boe. On Monday last Mrs. Grant Butt was called home to Nova Scotia as her father had suffer- ed a severe stroke, Her little daughter Gail is staying with her grandmother Mrs. E. Butt. Some folk we know who at- tended the Shehan - Cookson Wedding in Toronto on Satur- \day were:--Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wil- son, Mr. Neil Wanamaker and Miss Donna Graham, Mrs. G. Bright and Miss Jean Bright. Of course the Cookson family attended also. On Tuesday Mrs. Ken Stur- man was hostess for a Stanley demonstration put on by her sister-in-law Mrs. Reg. Sturman Rev. D. Harris and Mr. Glenn Wanamaker represented Greenbank charge at the meet- ing of Lindsay Presbytery on Monday. Mr. Morley Bruce had a suc- cessful sale of farm stock and implements last Monday and has since moved a mile south to the Frank Watson home. Next sale will take place at the Orval Stone farm on Oct. 21. Murwin and Mansel Stone vill be moving to a house on Crandel St., Port Perry about the first of November. Some of the more ambitious ladies of our congregation have been cleaning and painting in the church basement. This job simply must be finished before Friday as on that day two bus loads of senior citizens from Port Hope are stopping for a turkey dinner on their trip north to view the autumn leaves. Sacrament of The Lord's Supper was observed at morn- ing worship on Sunday, and Rally service at the Sunday School. Mr. Ed. McCaig, Greenbank, a student attending Waterloo University gave an excellent address.at the latter servide. Birthday money was member, Mrs. Eagleson, and by one of the younger ones, Keith Barr. The young people will meet on Thursday evening to con- sider reviving our Young Peo- ples Union. deposited by our oldest SS. Seven games of progressive euchre at sixteen tables were enjoyed. James Lee and Ruby Smith had the highest scores.
