Hill In the United Church Sunday morning 11 members of the choir were back on duty after two months holidays and sang an Authem "God Reveals His Presence". Rev. P. Romeril took as the subject of his ser- non "The Wisdom of the Simple", Rally Day programme was carried out in Sunday School with all pupils receiving their new books and finding their places in mew classes. There are also several changes of teachers. Mrs. Blake Gunter is Superintendant of the Primary Department. In St! John's Church Canon Ashmore preached from the subject "The Questioning Spirit". The Sacrament of Holy Communion was admin- istered as usual on the first Sunday of the month. Saturday, Sept. 11th the an- nual Sunday School picnic is to be held. If weather permits it will be on Cartwright Park, Caesarea -- if not fine -- in the Parish Hall. Blackstock Women's Institute met in the Community Hall Sept. 1st with an attendance of 25. Following the opening ex- ercises the Roll Call "A first aid remedy and what it is used for" was well answered. There was considerable correspond- ence including the reading of six resolutions. Sec'y Mus. Ralph Larmer reported on the short course she and Mrs. Rich- ard Van Camp had taken at Orono namely--*"How to be well dressed and well groomed". She . Van Camp, group leader for "health" read an in- teresting article on Safety and called on Mrs. Lorne Thompson to reply to the motto "He who cannot forgive others breaks the bridge over which he him- self must pass". Two Bowman- ville ladies, Mrs. Buttery and Mrs. Mundy Dist. President were present. Mrs. Mundy gave a very interesting talk on W.I. work and closed with "Its nice to be important but more important to be mice". Mrs. Percy Van Camp showed pictures of Holland and Hawaii and commented on same. Mrs. G. Skelding gave current events. A contest, lunch and the "Queen" closed a very plea- sant evening. Monday evening, August 30, cver 30 members of the Fergu- son relatives gathered in the Cammunity Hall to spend a so- cial evening' with Mrs. T. J. S. Ferguson of Nelson, B.C. who just had two days to visit in this area and Mr. Sam Gibson and Miss Ivy Withers of Lavoy, Sask. Mr. Gibson has had a nice visit with the relatives and friends but his granddaughter, Miss Withers just arrived a few days before and they have left for home now.
