The Ontario County Soil and Crop Improvement Association held a very successful meeting on Wednesday, July 28, at the rod row test plots at the farm of Milton Parkin, R.R. 1, Brook- lin. Mr. Ken Fallis, Associate Di- rector, Soils 'and Crops Branch, Toronto, was the guest speaker, He described each variety in the plot, pointing out its good and weak points. The varieties in these rod row plots are as follows: Oat varieties--Gary, Rodney, Russell, Shield, Stormont, Dorval. Barley varieties--York; Herta; Parkland; Keystone; Cham- plain;. Firlbecks 3; Svalof 50-109; Conques{y 0OB13-13, 0333-3. * There was an excellent turn- out of farmers at this meeting. It will be a few days before these rod row variety tests are harvested. Any farmers inter- ested in visiting the plots are welcome to do se.
