Mr. Rodd Foster conducted the ser- vice and the guest speaker was Mrs. M. Rynard whose message as always was much appreciat- ed. Mr. Brian Harris contribu- ted a solo and was accompanied by the organist Mrs. D. Lee. This too, added much to the service. Next Sunday Mr. L. Evans of Uxbridge will be the speaker. Mrs. Harris had charge of the church service at Pinedale on Sunday morning. =~ Another thriller occurred oft our famous corner on Sunday afternoon. A southbound car travelling at high speed could- n't do the twist, left the pave- ment, circled around and came to a halt in a cloud of dust in front of the church and facing north, Result -- one flat tire, sods and gravel all over the place, several cases of shattered \nerves. The tire was replaced-in\record time and the travellers proceeded merrily on their way, happy to be alive and uninjured. Mr. Robert Clarke of Belfast, Ireland, visited at the Art Couves home last week. Bernie Blakely of Pickering was the guest of his cousins, the Blair children last week. Miss Peggy Foster left on Saturday to visit relatives at James Bay. SEAGRAVE- NEWS We keep wondering how the new phoné of the Greenbank correspondent is serving and if the news is rolling in as anti- cipated. Not much rolls in by - phone over here. If items be- come much scarcer we will be reduced to discussing the wea- ther. This community was shocked to learn of the accident which resulted in the death of Mrs. Earl Martyn, Prince Albert and * in servere_injuries to her hus- band. the bereaved family, some of whom live here. Mrs. Robt. Thompson suffer- ed a heart seizure early last week and has been in Port Perry hospital . since. She is doing nicely and is hopeful of getting home soon. Mrs. Maude Boe, Bowmanville, mother of Mr. O. J. Boe is spending a few wecks with her son and his wife. Miss Marilyn McMillan _ is fending a hand down at the Wanamaker store these days. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kidd and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Katel- burnie from Sukatchogon visi ed their cousin 7 Keen and their aunt Mr§, Cora Moase last week. 'On Friday Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Hoyland and family of Brock- We extend sympathy to] ville accompanied the Brink- man family of Port Perry on a visit to Mr: and Mrs. Belair. Miss Mae Jones of Bermuda is visiting her aunts Mrs. Me- Neil and Mrs. Willis. Miss, Jones came from the women's group of the church in" Bermuda to attend the Women's Training School at Berwick, Nova Scotia.' Mrs. Willis who was ill quite recently is making a fine re- covery. ' Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Eagle- son on Sunday were Mr: & Mrs. Gordon Milne, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs.. Chas. Hindle and family of Edmonton, Alta., are visiting the W. Howell fa- mily. Mr. Hindle is a brother of Mrs. Howell. On Monday morning word was received of the death of Mr. D. J. MacTaggart after a long illness. Mr. MacTaggart spent his early years in the Sonya and Seagrave districts and later lived near Burketon and in Prince 'Albert. He was § veteran of World War I. The last league ball game re- sulted Braves. Saturday. morning, July 24th, 1965, as the result of a car ac- cident, by the corner of the Courtcie and Taunton roads, in | Darlington Township. Ralph lived all his life with- in a few miles of Blackstock. He obtained his education in Cartwright Public and High Schools and received his B.A. from the University of Toyquto. He was a dairy farmer and a Social Worker in Oshaw Child- ren's Aid Society, Decesed was a member of | Blackstock United Church, and] a teacher in the Sunday School. Also he kept up his member- ship with Timothy Eaton United Church Young Peoples Group (Trident) since in college. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Strong; a sis- ter Phyllis (Mrs. Eric Barr) of Brampton; a brother Robert of Blackstock; a sister Beth of To- clair of Brampton. Funeral service was held from the MeDermott-Panabaker Chapel, Port Perry, Tuesday, July 27th and was conducted by Rev. John Romeril of Courtice, in the absence of Rev. Philip Romeril. Interment was in Cadmus Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. Ross Duff; Mor- ris Cox; Peter Forbes;. John Van Abbena; Harvey Graham and Dalton Dorrell. The many callers at the Cha- pel, the very largely attended funeral and numerous floral tributes, spoke of the esteem in which deceased was held. Among the flowers were bas- kets and wreaths from Child- ren's Aid Society; Blackstock Sunday School & Choir; Guern- sey Breeders Association; pals; neighbours; relatives. & friends.
