Hill The regular monthly meeting of St. John's W.A. was held in the Parish Hall, July 15th with the President presiding. The hymn "O Keep us Lord each hour of need" was sung, and Mrs. Lucy Langfeld took the Devotional period and opening prayers. Mrs. Ashmore gave a hearty welcome to Mrs, G. V. A. Scott, who has been ill a long while. Treasurer gave a report of the bake sale at Caesarea, which was very successful. Prepara- tions were made for a "spode" demonstration in November. There will be a display of an- tiques at the fair in August. Meeting closed with prayer, followed by refreshments. A good crowd attended the shower in honour of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Swain, whick was held in the Recreation Centre ~-Friday evening. Mr. Merrill VanCamp was 'M.C. for the occasion and presented a programme consist- | ing of piano solos by Marie Van Camp and Linda Mountjoy. A humorous chorus by Mesds. | M. Van Camp, N. Bailey, N. Werry, J. Green, K. Van Camp and H. Martyn; a reading by Mrs. Don Green; a medley of" popular songs by Mrs. Lorne | Thompson, accompanied at the] piano by Mrs. Dave Wilson, and a reading by Miss 'Aileen Van Camp. } At this time the M.C. invited the bride and groom to seats on the platform, while Mrs. L. Thompson played "Here comes the Bride". With a few well chosen words Merrill presented a reclining chair, Hi Fi lamp & other gifts with the good wishes of this community. Both Jack and Nancy expressed their ap- preciation. Folowing a bounti- ful lunch, dancing to music! provided by Clara Nesbitt's Orchestra was enjoyed. Also a few played cards. Mr. and Mrs. George Ruther- ford, Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rutherford, U.S.A. and Mrs. Phena Mountjoy, Oshawa were Saturday evening guests of Mrs. Alma Fowler. Mrs. E. Balsom, Duncan Van- couver Island, is visiting her sister Mrs. Ernest Larmer and Mr. Larmer. Mr. and Mrs. E. 1.
