The June meeting was held in the Church Parlour on the afternoon of June 8th at 2 p.m. Mrs. Davidson read the Call to Worship followed by selection 743 from the Hymnary which was read responsively, Hymn 368 was sung. The offering $14.05 was received and Dedi- cated. rs. Spencer read the Scritpture taken from 2nd Phil- lipians Verses 1-18. Mrs. Raines read the Meditation. Hymn 308 was sung. The Study Book was taken by Mrs, Thomson and dealt with the work of Rev, Lloyd Strachan an Agriculture Missionary in Brazil. Rev. Mr. Harris showed a Film on the 'Missionary work among the French in Quebec. Mrs. Phoenix presided for the business meeting, welcoming the 22 members and 38 visitors, thanking the group in charge, also Mr. Harris. The minutes were adopted as read by Mrs, Spencer. No Treasurer's Re- port available as Mrs. Couves was absent. Mrs. Clements gave a detailed account of the collecting, packing and shipping of the Bale which amounted to 21 packed boxes. She recom- mended more help with same for next year. The foilowing coming events were discussed: Conventions at Kingston and Belleville, Leader- ship School at Whitby, Anni- versary Service and supper at Pinedale, Garden Party at the Victor Home for Girls. The ladies who volunteered to paint the steps were to pick their own time in agreement with the prevailing weather. Mrs, McCaig and Mrs. An- derson thanked the ladies for recently received cards of Sym- pathy. Hymn 363 closed the meeting followed by Mizpah Benediction. Lunch was served by the group in charge. HAMILTON A Blackstock area resident, Frederick Alexander Hamilton died suddenly Saturday at the Port Perry Community Hospital He was in his 66th year. Born in Cartwright, he was employed as caretaker of the Cartwright (Central Public School. He was a licensed lay reader in the Anglican Church and a faithful church worker. He was a member of the Orange Lodge and the Fife and Drum Band. He married the former Ivy Wall at Uxbridge in 1930. Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Doris of Toronto & Ruth (Mrs. B. Melmyk of Ed- monton; three brothers: John, Percy and Cecil; and one sister, Annie, (Mrs. William Taylor). Two grandchildren also sur- vive. Resting at the Chapel of Mec- Dermott-Panabaker, Port Perry. Funeral service was held Tues- day at 2.30 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church, Blackstock. Mrs. Roach, Cammissioner for the Division Handicraft Guild Add New Members The Louise Patterson Handi- craft Guild met at the home of Mrs. Joe Tripp, Shirley, on Wed., June 9th, with a smaller attendances than usual. The Pres. Mrs. Patterson chaired the meefing and ex- tended a warm welcome to all. Two new members were pre- sent--we now "boast" a mem- bership of 23. After regular business was transacted members discussed various "Hobbies". Of parti cular interest to the meeting was the display of "Embroidery Painting" done by two of the members. This was learned at a previous meeting when this new art was demonstrated. An- other special feature was a new "Knotting" Stitch, the work of a new member. Meetings will not be held during the summer months,-- the first meeting for the fall season will be held at Mrs, Pat- terson's home, Sept. 8th. They received many beautiful pre- sents, pink roses, white tapers and a lovely three tiered cake graced the buffet. Pouring tea were Mrs. Harry Jewell & Mrs. Art Fielding. Guests were pre- sent from Midland, Toronto, Lindsay, Whitby, Hartley, Can- nington, Uxbridge, Sonya, Kes- wik and Prince Albert. Mr. Bill Ross, Oakwood visit- ing old friends over the week- end.
