The newly - elected president thanked Mrs. Lane for her gra- cious manner in installing the new executive and mentioned that it was generally felt that Mrs. Lane was the Mother of the Scout Hall. Mrs. William Williams had the honour of presenting the Past President's pin to Mrs. Grant McDermott, thanking her for all the hours of hard work that she had done for the better- ment of the Auxiliary. Mrs. McDermott in her charming manner thanked the Auxiliary for the pin and mentioned that it would be quite an honour and privilege to wear it. She also thanked the past executive for their assistance during her year of office and wished the best of luck to the new executive. A delightful programme was arranged by Assistant Cub- master Howard Hall who gave an interesting talk on the re- quirements needed for Cubs to acquire the detailed amount of badges for a first class cub. Accompanying him were Sixers Charles Nelson; John Murray; Gregory Goode and Ted Hall. The demonstrations put on by the boys were unique including, knot tieing; first aid; sema- phore work demonstrating the sending and receiving of mess- ages. Several exhibits were on hand showing the work done to receive a toy makers badge and also some articles which were made at last year's camp, which included an Indian Headdress and a Shield. Mrs. John Ballard kindly in- vited the Scout Mothers' to her summer home for a June meet- ing before closing for the sum- mer session. This happy get- together will be held on Mon- day, June 21st. All members wishing to go are asked to meet at the Scout Hall at 7.15 p.m. to arrange transportation. The guest speaker, Mr. Ger- ald Nelson, representing the Group Committee, gave a short talk on the aim of Scouting and stated the big problem with the organization is to get person- nel to keep the scouting in Port Perny going. An appeal for help was made and it was men- tioned that ladies in the sur- rounding districts were wear- ing cub uniforms and finding the work very rewarding. Per haps some of the ladies in this community would like to volun- teer their services to assist the local Scout and Cub masters in the Fall. Following this en- lightening information by Mr. Nelson, a discussion was held pertaining to the requirements needed for leadership. The president thanked Mr. Nelson for his talk and his interest and hard work that he has during the years put into the move- ment. Mrs. McDermott closed the meeting with the Scout Mizpah and after a very enjoyable "pot luck lunch", the group present departed with a greater know- ledge of the fine work in which the boys are participating. The members of the auxili- ary will please note that the re- peat performance of "Moods in Music" will not be sponsored by the auxiliary at this time, owing to the members of the United Church Choir cancelling the arrangements. A big thank- you is extended to the Scout Leaders and Scouts for their willingness and co-operation in offering to help with this pro- ject and trust that in the future their services will still be avail- able, when needed. It was a pleasure to the mem- bers of the auxiliary to note the interest shown in their open meeting by the attendance of several leaders which included Assistant Scoutmasters Albert Fulford; Charles Reesor and Howard Hall.
