President Mrs. Harold Kyte opened the meeting with a poem "Reflec- tions". Mrs, Stanford Van Camp conducted the Worship period. After the singing of the hymn "In Christ there is no East or West", she led in pray- er and read a Scripture passage and Meditation on Missionary Education, Following the of- feratory prayer she read a letter from Rev. Robt. Clarke, telling "Why we are in India". Mrs. Richard Van Camp in- troduced the guest speaker Mr. Ali Khan, a teacher of High School here and a native of Trinidad, who told of the life and customs of Trinidad as compared with Ontario in a very interesting and informa- tive manner. Mrs, C. Hill thanked Mr. Khan, President conducted the busi- ness during which reports were heard from Secretary, Treas- urer, all units, Manse commit- tee. A nice letter of apprecia- tion from Mrs. Tonge, Hong Kong was read. Supply com- mittee reported the allocation bale gone and a large bale to Overseas Relief shipped and an- other ready to go to Simeoe Hall, Oshawa, also another to be sent Mrs. Tonge in a day or two. Harry Mellow of Oshawa his D.D. that afternoon. Then they visited friends until Sunday afternoon. Congratulations to Miss Don- na McLaughlin, who mot only graduated from Peterboro Tea- chers Training College, but was also awarded a scholarship for achievement as the top student of the year. She is engaged to teach in Cartwright Central School commencing in Sept- ember. Miss Mabel VanCamp is at- tending a Y.W.C.A. convention in Saskatoon, Sask. this week. Mr. and Mrs. John Kewen and family Beaconsville, Que. spent the holiday week-end with her father Mr. Everett Trewin. Mrs, Wilbert Archer attended a musical evening in the Mis- sionary Alliance Hall of Osh- awa Thursday when a choir of thirty voices from the Sask. Bible College presented the pro- gram. CET NS ONTA PUBLIC NOTICE The Metropolitan Toronto and Region Transportation Study, operating under authority vested in it by the Prov- Ince of Ontario, will hold public hearings during the Fall of 1965 in various locations in the region, bounded by the City of Hamilton on the west, the City of Oshawa on the east, and the City of Barrie on the north. In keeping with its investigation of all modes of land travel in the region leading to a co-ordinated transporta- tion plan of a regional nature for the future, the Study now invites municipalities, other public bodies, organizations and individuals to submit briefs on one or all of the follow- ing subjects in their regional context. 1. The type and location of transportation needed in the 2. The degree to which transportation availability and flexibility affects economic development and land use. 3. The policies of the.different levels of Government needed to resolve transportation problems. Parties wishing to make submissions are requested to file advance letters of intent before July 15, 1965. Institute Marks 50th Birthday May 14 was a red letter day in the history of Blackstock Wo- men's Institute. At a meeting in the Christian Education Centre of the United Church the branch marked the 50th anni- versary of its organization. The tables were decorated with spring flowers, yellow and blue serviettes, blue candles and yellow cakes on old fashioned stands. The ONO Club served refreshments to 85 guests. The toast to the Queen was followed by the Institute Grace and the hymn of all nations, The gathering was welcomed by Mrs, Percy Van Camp. Among the guests were many past pre- sidents and secretaries a well a the presidents and secretaries of the institutes in the West Durham District. DISTINGUISHED GUESTS The head table guests, intro- duced by Mrs. Arthur Bailey in- cluded Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm, a member of Nestleton WI and the soloist; Mrs. M. Wiseman, Bowmanville, West Durham District Secretary; Mrs. C.! Mills, Maple Grove, district president; Mrs. R. Westlake, Brampton, area secretary-trea- surer; Mrs. J.
