The guests were welcomed by Wendy Sanderson, C.G.LT. pre- sidert. The toast to the church was proposed by Stephen Daw. Rev. H. M. Buntain replied. The toast to the Mothers was pro- pesed by Jennifer Hyatt with Mrs. Gerald Middleton reply- ing. Greetings from Lindsay Pres- bytery were brought by Mrs, McPherson, Children's secretary and Mrs. Russell Batten, girl's secretary. Thanks to the WMS was expressed by Bonnie Mid- dleton and Mrs. A. Hyatt. An affiliation service was chyduted by Mrs. R. Batten when Jennifer Hyatt and Bon- nic Middleton graduated from Explorers to C.G.LT. Mrs. Gordon Fisher, of Pick- ering spent the week-end at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Ashton visited Miss Vera Prentice, Brookdale, on Sunday. Mrs. Ivan Crigger, of Dry- der, Ont. was a recent visitor at the Hopkins home. Warrant officer Wm. & Mrs. Sparks and family, of Kingston, spent the holiday week-end with Mrs. M. Sparks. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Emm, of High Wycombe, England, to our community; at present they are living with their son and wife Mr. and Mrs, Gerald Emm. Mr. and Mrs, Edgar Heron spent three days last week in Ottawa, when Mr. Heron at- tended the assessor's conven- tion. Miss Vera Leach spent last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon English at Woodville. The Active Service Group, of Mt. Zion were entertained by the members of the Ladies Bible Class on Wed., May 12th at 8 p.m, in the basement of the church. The meeting opened with the singing of Hymn 494 "What a Friend we have in Jesus". The scripture lesson Psalm 113 was read by Mrs. W. Routley and prayer by Mrs. R. Batten. The offering was received and the minutes were read. It was decided for the class to pay for a girl or boy to attend the Bible Club camp this summer. Mrs. Donald Jamieson presi- ded for the programme: A read- ing "If the flalo fits", by Mrs, Fred Fiss; a vocal duet by, Mrs. Elmer Wilson and Mrs. Grant Carson "The Touch of a Mo- ther's Hand". Mrs. J. Empring- ham chose for her topic '"Home- makers and Mothers", Mrs. Burnett Jamiesory told of the lifc of the well known hymn writer "Fanny Crosby", The meeting closed with the sirging of Hymn 594 "Rescue the Perishing", and prayer by Rev. H. Buntain. As this was our "Mothers" meeting, carnations were pre- sented to the oldest mother present -- Mrs. M. Sparks; the youngest mother -- Mrs. Fred F'iss; and the mother present having the youngest baby--Mrs. M. Albright. Sandwiches and cookies were seived and a social time en- joyed.
