Flanking --Staff Photo Hardball Season Opens Here June 2 The opening hardball game for the Port Perry team will be held at the Fair Grounds next Wednesday evening, June 2nd. The Port team who are playing in the Victoria Independent League will meet Fenelon Falls in their first game, which will start at 7 p.m. Port Perry are allowed two imports this year ,and with this addition to the last year's squad should be a real contender in the league this year. Jury Recommend - Reduced Speed At Manchester A five-man coroner's jury blamed excessive drinking as] the cause of a double fatality accident near Manchester, Jan. 25th. The verdict was returned on | the inquest held in Whitby into | the death of George Edward, MacNeal, 34, of Nestleton, who | was killed on Highway 17, just | south of Manchester. The dri- ver of the second car, Robert . Campbell, 20, of R.R. 1, Brook- lin, also died as a result of the | collision. The jury added a rider recom~ mending that the speed limit in the Manchester area should be reduced from 60 miles per hour to 40 mph. Delegate From Ireland Visits Ontario County Miss Iris Gilmore, Irish Juni- or Farmer from County Derry, Ireland, will be visiting in Ont- ario County, from Friday, May 28 until Friday, June 11. Miss Gilmore is one of eight Junior Farmers from Great Britain now visiting in the Pro- vince on an exchange of Junior Farmer delegates between Ont- ario and Great Britain. Each year a delegation of four Juni- or Farmers from the Province of Ontario visits Great Britain, and Northern Ireland; and in return, a delegation of English, Scottish and Irish Junior Farm- {- ers visit in Ontario.
