14 -- PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, April 15th, 1965 On Saturday evening, April 10th at the Parish Hall Mr. and Mrs, Wes Pearce were enter- tained by their relatives and 25th Wedding Anniversary. The guests' were received at the door by Mr. Fred Crawford and Mrs. Georges Crawford (mother of the bride). Janice Crawford and Cheryl Rahm were in charge of the guest book. After an enjoyable evening of games and a short program Mr. Jehn Venning (master of cere- monies) escorted the bride and groom to two decorated chairs at the front of the hall beside the table decorated in pink and white, silver candle sticks and pink candles and wedding cake, where he brought back cherish- ed memories of old times and old friends, then asked Dorothy to read the following address: Dear Clara and Wes A few of your relatives and friends have gathered this evening to help celebrate with you, this very happy and mem- orable occasion your "Silver Wedding Anniversary". At the completion of this 25 years of married life, the day must recall to both of you a host of happy memories of dreams you made come true, No doubt your joys have been intermingled with a few sor- rows strewn along life's path, Mr. & Mrs. Wesley Pearce Celebrate Silver Wedding but your thoughtfullness ,your helpfulness and your under- standing of each other have aside, and being a silver lining | to even the darkest clouds. There are also happy mem- ories in our hearts that time cannot erase, and it is so pleas- ant to recall them at such a special time as this, Memories of good times, the fun and laughter we've shared together will forever remain with us. We trust that this day has been even happier than the day you said "I do" and may this happiness continue throughout the next 25 years to come. The bride and groom received a beautiful bouquet of Red reses, pink carnations and white mums. A money tree, a gift of money, an album of family pictures presented to them by their nephews Terry Lane, Brian Haines and Ricky Rahm. Wes and Clara thanked their guests for making their anni- versary such a happy one and for the beautiful gifts they had received. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and wedding cake. Our minister Rev. A. Rice Palm Sunday worship to which a larger congregation attended. themselves with seasonable song accompanied by choir or- ganist Mrs, B. Snelgrove. Rev. Rice glady announ- ced that Mr. and Mrs. E. Jewell had jeined our church via trans- fer from Vroomanton. Three other young folk who joined by profession of faith were Jane Huntley, Charles Willes and Bryan Beacock. The elders came forth and extended a hand of welcome to the new members. This was followed by the Sacrament of the Lord's Sup- per. Everyone appreciated the two beautiful floral offerings placed from the funeral of the late Mr, R. Peel. Then Barbara commenced unwrapping the many gifts, for which she thanked and requested all to come and see them in their hcme on Scugog Island. Those attending the shower were giv- en an opportunity to go up- stairs to view persents from previous showers and wedding gifts. A" delicious lunch ended the occasion.
