Mrs. Margaret Sparks is spending a few weeks with her son and family in New Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. James Doble; Mr. and Mrs, Lawrence Doble and family of Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Wes. Doble of Sunderland were recent visitors at the'home of Mr. and Mrs. Dougrs Ash- ton. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Ashton attended a presentation for Mr. and Mrs, Frank Moore (nee Della Johnston) in Utica Hall on Friday evening. The January meeting of the 'W.M.S. was held at the home of Mrs. Russell Batten on Wed- nesday evening, January 6th, with the vice-president, Mrs. Fred Daw presiding. The meeting opened with the singing of hymn 697, "Standing at the Portal". The scripture lesson was read by Mrs. F. Daw followed with prayer by Mrs. C. Harrison. Mrs. Edgar Heron spoke on the forming of a C.G.I.T. group here and also told of some of the work being carried on at 'Evangel Hall our Presbyterian mission in Toronto. A filmstrip, "Never a Saint" was shown followed by. a short discussion on sate. The meeting closed with a prayer by Mrs. Wm. The following officers for 1965 were installed by Rev. H. Buntain. President, Mrs. Douglas Ash- ton; Vice-President, Mrs. Grant Parrott; Secretary, Mrs. Will- iam Davis; Treasurer, Mrs, William Gardner; Pianist, Mrs. Norman Anderson. The meeting closed with a prayer by Rev. Buntain. House League Hockey News Jan. 13--Jackson 2, Hall 1 Jackson came up with a good game sparked by Larry Jack- son who was all over the ice. Lee. B. Aldred was the old re- liable for Halls, playing an all star kind of hockey, checking, and had several shots on goal. B. Heayn and G. Waller also played well. Summary-- ~ Jackson--L&e - Jackson " Jackson--Kirpatrick - Martyn McCartriey's team won a close game from Halls 2 to 1. The game was marred by penalties -- ten altogether. G. Geer scored both goals for Me- Cartney while T. Hall scored for Halls, Mahaffy was the star of the game with his fine passes get- ting two assists on Geer's goals. (Past President, Mrs. M. Dow- son, opened the meeting and thanked the ladies for their splendid co-operation during her term as President. Mrs. R. Cornish on behalf of the mem- bers expressed appreciation to Mrs. Dowson for her untiring efforts during the past two years! ur incoming President, Mrs, S/ Griffen, then took charge of the meeting.
