They are in a seven-team group with Mark- ham, Stouffville, Bay Ridges, Ajax, Pickering and Uxbridge. In a home and home series with Uxbridge the lads took sole pos- session of first place with two impressive wins. At Uxbridge on Tuesday, Jan. 5, Rick Short shut-out Uxbridge 3 to 0. Ron Phinney led the attack with 2 goals and Dale Hallett tallied a single. At home on Wednes- day, Jan. 6th, Rick stood out once more with a 7 to 4 win. Dale Hallett tallied twice with singles to Jody Williams, Bill Davidson, Ron Phinney, Glen Sweetman and Dan McCartney. For Uxbridge Ron Webster scored two with Hank Arts and Larry Geer one apiece. The Port lads looked real good in both contests and should have no trouble in winning the group championship. Manager Joo Fowler and Coach Jim Burnett are doing an excellent job with these young fellows and are worthy of your support by at- tending their next home game against Stouffville at/the Com- munity Arena on Monday, Jan. 18th. These little guys are carry- ing the only banner in the O.M.H.A. this season and we feel the community should turn out and give them some encour- agement.
