Hill Twenty-four ladies, one gent and two children attended the annual meeting of the U.C.W. in the Christian Education room Tuesday, Jan. 5th, 1965. Re- tiring President Mrs. Neil Mal- colm, opened the meeting with "Ten Commandments for the New Year" and prayer. Mrs. Walter Wright and Mrs. Lloyd Wright of the Dorcas unit, conducted a fine New Year's devotional period with the themie--Real Happiness lies in the joys of achievement. In calling the roll, the Sec- retary reported the number of meetings each member had at- tended during the year. Several motes of appreciation for remembrances at Christmas were received. Reports of all departments were given. Fol- lowing the report of the nomin- ating committee by Mrs. Glenn Larmer, Mrs, Malcolm express- ed appreciation for co-operation during her term of office and hopes for continued success in the future and turned the meet- ing over to Rev. Mrs, J. Carnaghan expressed thanks to Mrg. Mal- colm for her. untiring works, which was heartily endorsed by all. Rev. Romeril closed the meeting with prayer. The Anna unit served a daipty lunch. Blackstock Women's Institute held their January meeting in the Commanity Hall Wednes- day afternoon with 18 members present/and Mrs. Velva Bailey presiding. Meeting opened with Ode and Collect. Minutes and Treasurer's reports were read, also several notes of thanks for gifts received at Christmas. Committees were appointed to work on exhibits for fairs. De- cided to hold a euchre party Jan. 29th. Mrs. IC, Smith re- Yorted on Port Perry hospital auxiliary meeting. All are asked to begin preparing for the bazaar in the spring. The roll call--A Farm Safety Tip--was well answered. Mrs. J. "A. McArthur, convenor of the Agriculture group now pre- sided. Mrs. Stanford VanCamp gave a most interesting res- ponse to the motto:--*The Bliss of Growth: The Glory of Ac- tion: The Splendor of Beauty", All enjoyed singing the Safety Version of Old McDonald's Farm. Mrs. Ralph Larmer introduc- eded tHe guest speaker Mr. A, 0. Dalrymple, P. Ag. District Agriculture Representative, who gave a very informative and interesting address on some of his work, and the many changes in the past few years. Mrs. McArthur expressed thanks to Mr. Dalrymple, then conducted an- Agricultural Con. test.
