On Sat, evening Dec. 19 Rose- mary Nodwell entertained Gr. 13 students P.P-H.S. at a skat- ing party on the Nonquon. The ice was good as was the wea- ther and the lunch served by Mrs. Nodwell later in the even- ing. Pupils of Miss Jean Bright's class entertained at thé Caes- area Community Christmas party. : On Mon., Dec. 29th about 40 children of the "12 and under". group attended Mrs. McNeil's annual Christmas party in the S. S. room. Mrs, McNeil was assisted by Mrs. Cliff Short and Mrs. G. Stone with Mrs. Chas. Short acting as pianist. The children each received a small gift and there was no casual- ties. The Annual S. S. meeting was held on Tues, Dec. 30th. Re- ports for 1964 were very grati- fying with increases in attend- ance, offerings and M. & M. contributions, According to the rules, there is a supt. and 3 assistants, each conducting a service once a month. At the end of the year the Supt. re- tires, the 1st assistant steps up and a new name is added. This meant that Cliff Short retired, Doug McMillan became Supt. with Neil Wanamaker, Jim Fishley and Ken Sturman (new nominee) as assistants. Secre- taries -- Maureen Tobin, Jack Short. Treas.--Mrs, L- Nicholls, Sylvia Wanamaker replaces Mrs. Dowson as alternate pia- nist with Mrs. Tobin. Mrs. Dowson is in charge of the Nursery Department and tea- chers are the same as last year. From primary up:--Mrs. Chas. Short, Mrs. G. Stone, Mrs- Bel- air, the trio (D., McMillan, N. Wanamaker, K. Sturman), G. Wanamaker and Mrs. Clements. The problem of heating the basement for the small classes was passed back to the com- mittee for further consideration. The community was saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Wm. Short who lived most of his life here... Sympathies are extended to his family and friends. Our sympathies also go to Mr. Isaiah Irwin whose sister Mrs. Johns passed away last week, . Miss Crystal Monohan spent a few days in Oshawa hospital with an 'ear ailment. Mrs. T. Druen is again a pa" tient in Port Perry hospital and Mr. Edgar Butt is ill and under the doctor's care. McCrea were with their daughter Mr. & Mrs, B. Pickards and family, Port Perry. The Pickards recently celebrated their twenty - fifth wedding anniversary. Their daughter Miss Mary Louise Pickard, R-N., flew home from Vancouver for the occasion. Mrs. Stanton, Mrs. McKeri- han and Mrs. Luke spent the day with Mr. and Mrs, Ron. Gambell, Oshawa.
