Mr. and Mrs. Roy Asling of Rockcroft had dinner the Sun- day between the holidays with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Obituary- Mrs. ETTA MAUD HASTINGS The death of Mrs. Etta Maud Hastings occurred on Monday, Jan, 4th at Hillsdale ow { her 87th year. She had béen-i failing health for some six months. The deceased was the former Etta Maud Gifford, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Gif- ford. She was born in Hamp- ton and spent all her life in the Hampton-Oshawa district She married Charles Hastings at Hampton in 1897. Mr, Hast- ings predeceased his wife in 1940. Mrs. Hastings was an adher- ent of Northminster United Church. ~ She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. 'Merv Cryderman, (Grace), of Oshawa, and three sons, Mor- ley, of Toronto, Lorne, of New Jersey, & Frank of Port Perry. Nine grandchildren and five great - grandchildren also sur- vive. Mrs. Hastings was pre- deceased by a sister, Mrs. Lil- lie Grigg of Oshawa. Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Armstrong Funeral Home on January 6th with Rev. H. A. Mellow of Northminster United Church conducting. Interment was in Hampton tie PTR I Cemetery.
