i ea -~ SELLTES SIE Rana eT Scout And Cub Mothers' Auxiliary Hold Annual Christmas Party By Mrs, Charles Reesor The Scout and Cub Mothers' Auxiliary held their December meeting and Christmas Party at the home of Mrs. Grant McDer- mott, on Monday evening. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Grant Mec Dermot, who cordially, wel- domed tiventy "members gath- "ered together for an evening of social merriment. The business of the auxil- lary was quickly dispensed with - and gratifying reports were pre- sented by the secretary, Mrs. Orten Michie and. the treasurer, Mrs. Donald Cochrane. Reports were submitted regarding the party for a former member, Mrs. Leslie McDonald and the recent demonstration which was held in the Scout Hall and presented by Mrs. A. Fulford. Mrs. McDermott expressed her pleasure on behalf of the' parents who attended the recent investiture for eight scouts and reported that Scout Master. R. Bell wished to convey his many thanks on behalf of the scout organization for the hosplital- ity and refreshments supplied by thé auxiliary. Scoutmaster Bell will be the guest speaker at the January meeting which will be held at the home of Mrs. W. Williams, Bay Street. At the 'conclusion of the meeting an impromptu pro- gram was presented by all members participating in the games and contests, with Mrs. Lloyd Short, Mrs. Gwen King, and Mrs. Gordon Goode giv- ing readings suitable for the holiday season. Winding up the evening ac- tivities was delightful Christ- " mas songs played on the Low- ery Organ by Mrs. Glen Van Camp while the hostess and her committee daintily arranged the pqt-luck luncheon which was heartily enjoyed by all. Be- fore dispersing, Mrs. McDer- mott was extended a sincere vote of thanks by Mrs. Lloyd Wakeford for her hospitality and the use of her home. Obituary- | ROBT. ELLIOTT THOMPSON Seagrave lost one of its high- |' ly respected citizens in the pas- sing of Robt. Elliott Thompson on Nov. 26th. Born in England 'in 1880, the son of the late Robt. and Mary Thompson and educated in Eng- land, being a chartered account- ant. Coming to Canada in 1910, In 1915 he went overseas as an original member of the b8th Cdn. Inf. Bn, with the rank of orderly room Sergt. During the latter years of the war he was attached to the Bri- tish Embassy at Wash., D.C. On his return to Canada he resided in Toronto and Green- wood before coming to Seagrave in 1936. During World War II he was very active in raising funds for the Red Cross and other patriotic activities. He was a charter member of the AF. & AM. He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, the former Susan Baxter and a brother Thos. in England. A privaté funeral setvice was held at the McDermott-Pana- baker funeral parlours on Sat., Nov. 28th. The Rev. E. MeNeil conducted the service, with in- terment at Pleasant Point. Pall Bearers were Ralph Rey- nolds, Orville Boe, Gordon Sweetman, Leon Standish, Robt. Nodwell and Fred Cook- son.
