LJ ° ® [] 9 . - % + LJ [J --OBITU HOWARD L. FRANKLIN On Sunday morning, Novem- ber 15th, Howard L. Franklin of R.R. 4, Port Perry passed away in his sleep. Mr. Frank- lin resided in Reach Township for 46 years and spent his en- tire life farming in this area. In 1902 he was married to Ethel May Franklin and their family consisted of one son, Grant and two daughters. One daughter, Marian Croxall pre« deceased her father a few years ago and the remaining daugh- ter is Mrs. Helen Bentley of Ajax, Ont. Having reached his 80th bir- thday on August 15th, 1964, Mr. Franklin will be missed from the community. He was asso- ciated with many farm organi- zations and a member of the United Church. Besides tha widow, Ethel Mary, there are left to mourn his passing two brothers, Marshall Franklin of Brandon, Man. and Austin Franklin of Oshawa. Three sisters, Mrs. Leith Byers (Ed- ith); Mrs. Harold Hocken, (Ma- bel) Port Perry and Mrs. W. Weir (Jessie) of Brooklin, Ont, Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 17th from the funeral chapel of Mec- ARIES --- Demmott-Panabaker, with Rev. C. C. Gilbert conducting. Inter- ment Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert, Ontario. * % % DR. RUSSELL R. ORMISTON Following a lengthy illness, the death occurred on Monday, Sept. 28th, at Edmonton Hos- pital, of Dr. Russell R. Ormis- ton. The deceased, who was the fifth son of the late James J. and Mrs, Ormiston, was born at Raglan, Ont. The deceased was a veteran of the 1914 Cana- dian Expeditionary Force and served overseas. Dr. Ormiston was predeceased by his wife in 1957. He is sur- vived by two sons, Douglas and James, of Winnipeg. Also sur- viving are two sisters, Mrs. E. S. Stark (Elizabeth) of Colum- bus and Mrs. F. Kiley (Agnes) of St. Catharines and four bro- thers, James, Frank and Wil- liam of Brooklin and Daniel of Oshawa, The funeral service was held from the Connelly and McKin- ley Funeral Home, Edmonton, with interment in Beachmont Cemetery. Rev. A. B. Simpson conducted the service. the people of this area. MOWBRAY The death occurred early Sun- day, Nov. 16th, at the Oshawa General Hospital, of Miss Lou- ella B. Mowbray of Brooklin, Miss Mowbray was in her 89th year. A daughter of the late Ralph R. and Victoria Mowbray, the deceased was born Nov, 1, 1876, on the Mowbray homestead north of Raglan. Miss Mow- bray trained as a nurse in New York City and worked there until 1928 when she returned to Brooklin to care for her parents. A devout member of Brooklin United Church, she was an ac- tive member of the women's Institute and many other com- munity organizations. 'Miss Mowbray is survived by a brother, Ralph, of Brooklin. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mrs. R. S. McLaughlin (Adelaide) of Oshawa and Mrs. William Agar (Gladys) and two brothers, Frank and Roy. Interment was in Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin. Rev. Geo. Munday, minister of Brooklin United Church conducted the services. The pallbearers were Hugh Mowbray, John Dryden, and John Medland and three ne- phews, Lloyd Moody, Ralph Mowbray and Milton Mowbray. MacMaster 8 Former Resident Of Reach Twp. 100 Years Old Mrs. Frances Jackson, forme erly of Reach Township, Port Perry, and a resident of Fair- view Lodge since 1957, played selections on her piano-accordi- on at the party celebrating her 100th birthday. She was 100 years old on Saturday, November 7, and on Friday all the residents of A and B wing gathered in the lodge dining room to sing "Happy Birthday" and watch her cut her cake. The cake, a huge white one decorated in pink and white, had the candles on top forming the numerals 100. On Saturday her relatives came to visit bringing her gifts and best wishes. (Mrs. Jackson is very bright and alert and an extremely in. teresting person. [Among her many remembran- ces was a telegram from Queen Elizabeth and cards from Prime Minister Lester Pearson, the Hon.
