Jeni Carol Williams Becomes Bride Of Gerald E. Jackman sheath dresses featured french sleeves and semi-bateau necklines with an overskirt of sheer organza bordered by applique roses and Miss Jeanne Carol Williams, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Murray Williams, of Port Perry, became the bride of Mr. Gerald E. Jackman, only son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Jackman, of Oshawa ,in one of the prettiest weddings of the summer season, in Port Perry United Church, Saturday, June 20th, 1964. Baskets of Pink Carnations, interspersed with white lark- spur and shasta chrysanthe- mums made an attractive back- ground for the bridal party. The Reverend Mr. E. S. Lin- stead officiated at the double ring ceremony and was assisted by a former Port Perry minister the Reverend Mr. R. H. Wylie, of Honeywood, Ontario, who officiated at the marriage of the bride's parents ,at Colum- bus, Ontario in September 1936. The wedding music was play- ed by Mr. Glen Taylor, who also accompanied the soloist, Mr. . James Burnett, both of. Port Perry, who sang "The Wedding Prayer" before the ceremony and the "The Lord's My Shep- herd" during the signing of the register. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was charmingly attired in a floor- length gown of cathedral white silk organza over taffeta. The fitted bodice was designed with a semi-bateau neckline forming a V at the back, accented by appliqued Alencon lace and seed pearl medallions, and long lily-pointed sleeves. The simple empire lines fell into a semi- bouffant skirt forming a long chapel train which was held in place by a large double bow. The finger-tip bouffant veil of French illusion tulle was held in place with a double crown of pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of baby pink sweet- heart roses, stephanotis and variegated ivy. Her only ad- ornment was a gold-engraved wrist watch, the gift of the bridegroom. The Matron of Honour was Mrs. Ronald Gibson, of Port Perry and the bridesmaids were Miss Gloria Hastings, of Port Perry; Miss Vicki Watt, of Con- cord; Miss Joan Shawcross, of Toronto and Miss Susan Jack- man, sister of the bridegroom, of Oshawa. The bridal attendants were gowned alike in French Aqua silk organza over taffeta. The street - length styled leaves in matching tones. The bridesmaids headdresses were unique half crescents of tulle veiling, adorned with a semi- circle of organza petals centred by roses in blending tones and their accessories were in tha same shade. They carried cas- cades of pink carnations. The little flower girl, Miss Elaine Gibson, of Port Perry, was wearing a full-skirted dress in the same shade as the at- tendants, which featured frilled sleeves. Her halo headdress was of organza and tulle petals held'in place by a matching rose and she also carried a small cascade of. pink carnations. The small ring-bearer, Master Scott 'Drew, of Manchester, was an exact miniature of the grooms- men in his black tuxedo, and carried the rings on a sweet- heart shaped white satin cush- ion. Mr. Lorne Wood, of Oshawa, acted as best man and the ush- ers were Mr. Robert Delves, of Oshawa; Mr. Gordon Baker, of Oshawa, Mr. John Williams and Mr. Grant Williams, brothers of the bride, of Port Perry. A reception was held in the Masonic Temple, Queen Street, Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Wil- liams received their guests with the assistance of Mr. and Mrs, Jackman. : The bride's mother wore a sheath-styled dress of Shell pink Chantilly lace over taffeta with matching three - quarter length coat. Her telescopic Cloche of Milan Straw and em- broidered tulle and her acces- sories were in blending tones. The bridegroom's mother chose a cornflower blue organza sheath over flowerd "taffetta, complimented by a matching sheer coat. Her melon pillbox of nylon net was bordered with silk organza petals and her ac- cessories all were in the same shade of blue. were white feathered carnations. Among the guests present was the bride's paternal grand- father, Mr. Alonzo Williams, of Port Perry, Owing to ill health | the bride's maternal grandpar- ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nes- bitt and 'the paternal grand- parent of the bridegroom, Mr. \ Cowie were unable to be pre- sent. For their wedding trip to the East coast, the bride donned an ensemble consisting of a sheath dress of cameo pink linen with matching three-quarter length coat. She wore a'cloche of pink silk tulle and white accessories and a white feathered carna- tion corsage completed her costume. Upon their return, Mr. & Mrs. Gerald E. Jackman will reside at 855 Simcoe Street North, Oshawa. Before leaving for their honeymoon, the bride called on her - grandmother, Mrs. John Nesbitt and presented her with her bridal bouquet. Out-of-town guests were pre- sent from Oshawa, Toronto, Whitby, Peterborough, Clarks- burg, Coldwater, Owen Sound and Honeywood. Pictured above are the boys who constructed this cabin which measured 8' x 138' with a 7' wall in the building construc- tion program. The students in- 1964 -- b Senior Students volved are Thomas Adderley, Ronald Raines, Richard Prentice Grant Tummonds and Robert Fraser. Mr. J. F. Jefford is the instructor of this phase of the high school curriculum. The cottage was later trans- ported by truck to its perman- ent site in the Haliburton area.
