Later in the evening a delegation of near fourteen formed a sur- prise party as planned and . Bathered at the lovely new home | of the Jeffs, who recently de- parted from our village. After the excitement subsided the host and hostess made everyone comfortable and later entertain- ing with local pictures and scenes of Arizona. Near mid- night an opportune moment was given while an address was read by Mrs. Les Beacock, after which Mr. Bruce Snelgrove and Mr. Allen Martyn presented a sun-burst clock and a hassock to Edith and Bert Jeffs. who ably responded, expressing their joyous relationships in our church, administerating help where needed and appreciation of the gifts received, Robert Jeffs their son being away for the week-end as a result his gift is awaiting his return. An enjoyable social hour of food and visiting made up the engredients of a pleasant even- ing for all. -- pnd, A group of friends and rel- atives were invited and enter- tained in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Newnham recently. This party was in special honour of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Doupe's - thirty-fifth wedding annivers- ary. A sumptuous buffet meal was much enjoyed after which Jim and Aleta Doupe, the hon- oured couple left for a week- end with relatives in Belle- ville district. Several of our ladies attended and enjoyed the flower and program evening sponsored by U.C.W. Scugog Island. Miss S. Robertson who is teaching in the area of Ottawa called on her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hunter and family. Miss Pacey is back with the Ben Smith's after spnding the Easter holidays with her par- ents in Bancroft. Visitors with Mrs. E. Stan- | ton were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Spencer, of Brooklin and Mrs. Mrs. Mowbray, of Scarboro. Glad to see Mr. and Mrs. E. Weeden home from Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Hector Hodgins Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hodgins, and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Glass were guests of their relatives and attended the Campsall- Wilson wedding held in Wilbur Heights United Church in Tor- onto, last Saturday. A. MacDonald and Mrs. Mac Donald in Dundalk, also Mr. MacCannell's brother in Brain- pton last week. On Thursday, Mr. Lorne Pres- ton and Mr. Ron Partridge of Toronto visited Mr. Murray Prentice. Mrs. E. Prentice visited Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Prentice for a couple of days last week. They accompanied Mr . and Mrs. James Wilson to Oshawa where she visited her sister, Mrs. Smith who is ill. Mr. and Mrs. E. Gorrell of Eden visited on Saturday after- noon with Mr. and Mrs. Don. Asling, Frank and Albert Millman entertained a group of their friends at the school on Sat. evening in honor of their birth- day, April 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson and Douglas visited Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lee in Port Perry on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Chet Geer visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. Geer on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Bushell, Linda and Lori of Oshawa vis- ited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ashton on Sunday. Mr. Ross Bailey has been en- joying a holiday in Brandon, Manitoba. Peter Lacey, of Oak Ridges has returned home after spend- ing Easter week-end with Jef- frey Bailey. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Moore and Heather of Oshawa were dinner guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Jeffrey Clarke who had been visiting his grandparents re- turned home. We are sorry to learn that Billie Anderson had the mis- fortune to break his wrist while playing hockey. Miss Jean Graham of Lind- say was a week-end guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Munro. Mr. and Mrs. H. Kerry vis- ited Mr. and Mrs. N. Ashton of Ashburn and Mrs. E. Mole of Myrtle on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crozier visited with Mr. and Mrs. R. Munro and Mr. and Mrs. F. Munro on Wednesday. We are sorry to learn that Mr. Walter Rogers is ill. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. G. Prentice visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans on Tuesday evening.
