PORT PERRY STAR, THURSDAY, APRIL 2nd, 1964 -- 9 Local Softhall Men To Attend | Cedar Creek Convention In Owen Sound The Port Perry and District Minor Softball Assoc. will be well represented at the 42nd Annual Meeting and Conven- tion at Owen Sound on Friday and Saturday, April 8rd & 4th; of the Ontario Amateur Soft- ball Association. The Minor have submitted three rule changes this year. The first is to raise the Squirt age limit to 11 years which at present is 10 years. This change came very close to going through last year and this year it should make it. The second is to change the Bantam pitching distance from 856 to 40 ft.; move the bases back to 65 ft. the same as Midget and to use the 11 inch ball as in the past. The third change is the one which seems to have trouble even getting off the ground; to change the. Minor series in Squirt, Bantam, Pee Wee and Midget into an A and B series, A series would be over 10,000 population, B Series under 10,000 population. The 0.A.S.A. executive d8 not agree with this change and each year turn down this amendment quite convincingly. This proves our point that the small soft- ball centres should attend these meetings to fight back at the larger centres who are content with present series. Vin Walker the Secretary of the P.P, & D.M.S.A. has been nominated to stand for a posi- tion on the 0.A.S.A. Executive. The following men will rep- resent Port Perry this year: Pres. Carl Luke; 2nd Vice Jim Irvine; Director Len Clark and Secretary Vin Walker.
