Pull off and cool off! s tions 2, Remember to carry some sand in your car as long as ice and Snow are a threat, says the Ontario Safety League, In an ice-covered spot, a little sand can make the difference between driving away, and sending for a tow truck. Empty, waxed milk cartons make good containers for storing sand in your trunk. ee Xe 3. The vulnerability of the front seat passenger in a collision is high- lighted in these findings of crash re- search in England, quoted by the Ont. Safety League. Here is the distri- bution of severe injuries sustained by drivers and passengers -- on the as- sumption there are three passengers, two of them in the rear;--Driver 13%. Front seat pasenger, 76; Rear seat pasengers, 6 each. Xe 4. If a pedestrian is injured we say that he was struck by a car. The Ontario Safety League points out that it would really be more accurate to say he was struck by a driver, with a car. An automobile does only what the driver causes it to do. -- Xe 5. A probable rise in automobile in- surance rates is reported. The Ont. Safety League reminds the public that, in the long run, all rates are set by drivers themselves. Every insured driver pays for every insured colli- sion. If your neighbour has a crash; it is money out of your pocket. The way to reduce insurance rates is to reduce accidents. | -- 0 on THE PORT PERRY STAR, THURS.,, NOVEMBER 16th, 19628 3 L 4 LJ ® USINESS FORMS } of any size, shape or style can be obtained p 4 from us.
