After Grace was sung, about 656 enjoyed a bountiful supper. A business meet- ing was conducted by the president Clifford McCulloch. A minutes si- lence was observed in memory of three members who passed away dur- ing the year, Mrs. A. Prentice, Mrs. A. Buck and Mr. Edward Mole. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Prentice, Alberta, who have not been home for thirty years were given a special.welcome. Linstead of Port Perry will be the guest speaker, In the absence of Rev. Harris who is on vacation, the pulpit was oceu- pied last Sunday by Mr. L. Evans of Uxbridge. Mr. Thos. Sharp, accom- panied by Mrs, E. Phair, at the organ sang 'Jesus, Lover of My Soul". On the previous Sunday the guest soloist was Mr. Robt. Heayn of Prince Al- bert. There will be no church ser- vice next Sunday but Sunday School will meet as usual at 10 o'clock. The Aug. 26th Church service will be in charge of the U.C.W. Mrs. Milton Rynard will deliver the message. Last Friday evening a farewell party in honour of Mrs. Mary June Howsam and boys was held in the Community Hall. The entertainment consisted of sing-songs and square dancing after which Mary June was presented with a bridge set, luncheon cloth and pillow covers and Terry, Mark and Scott each received a tra- vel alarm clock, The best wishes of their many Greenbank friends are ex- tended to them as they go to their new home at Columbus. Several from here attended Sutton Fair last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs, H. McMillan spent Sunday with relatives at Chemong Lake, Congratulations to Mrs. Alice Phoe- nix who celebrated another birthday last Wed. A family party was held to mark the occasion. Mr. W. St. John is enjoying a few holidays with the Wilkinsons at their cottage on Dalrymple Lake. Mrs. Elmer Gibson has returned to her home after spending several weeks with her sister at Bowmariville, Mr. Ivon_ Spencer is convalescing at his home following surgery in a Toronto Hospital, Mr. and Mrs, F. Beare visited Mr. +1 and- Mrs-- Wm.Heron of Sunderland on Sunday. Mr. Bill McMillan enjoyed a plane trip to the West recently, Mrs. Evelyn Tait has reutrned from her vacation at Papineau Lake. A section of King Street, East of the corner received a coat of asphalt last Friday, much to the delight of the youngsters. The nice, smooth surface is ideal for bicycles, tricycles, kiddie cars, etc. First School for U.C. Women THEME: "The Chureh--1ts Task ~--Our Challenge". Place: Ontario Ladies College, Whitby. Time: August 20th to 24th. This is a School for Women to get inspiration, leadership training, a better undertanding of the work of the United Church Women, and a broader knowledge of, and a deeper devotion to the total Mission of the Church. The three daily sessions begin at 9 am. 2.30 pm, and 7.16 p.m. Each morning Mrs. 8. R. Collins will lead the group in Bible study and Miss Beatrice Wilson will present an introduction to program and study. On Tuesday and Thursday after- noons, Mrs. F. C. Clark will speak on "Great hymns of the Church" and Miss Wilson will discuss "Church Government", On Wed. afternoon, Miss Millicent Howse presents a "Re- port from New Delhi" and Miss Wil- son speaks on Citizenship Study in the U.C.W. Jr. Farmers On Bus Tour The Junior Farmer Bus Tour to Eastern Ontario and Quebec will be held this year from Sunday, August 19th, to Saturday, August 26th, This bus trip is sponsored by the Ontario Department of Agriculture and the Provincial Junior Farmers' Association, There will be 78 Junior Farmer boys and girls on this bus trip, and they will visit points of interest in Eastern Ontario and Quebec as far as Quebec City, They will return by way of Ottawa, where they will watch the Changing of the Guard, tour the Royal Canadian Mint, Public Archives, War Museum and other places of interest. The Ontario County delegates will be Joan Clarke, Uxbridge, R. 1, Cecil Noble, Uxbridge, R. 2, and Grant Jones, Ashburn, R. 1. These dele- gates have been selected because of outstanding work in their organiza- tion during the past year, Each boy and girl will receive a grant to help defray expenses. Joan Clarke and Cecil Noble are being Manchester Mr. and Mrs. James Cochrane of Atlanta, Ga. are visiting Mrs. Bain and Earl Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Don Carnegie and daughters are vacationing in Hali- burton. Mr. G. Vandérby has purchased the John Taylor home in Port Perry and will move shortly, Miss Camp at Doe Lake. We are glad to see our many vaca- tioners safely home again, We miss- ed them. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Thompson, Mr. Billy Thompson and friend of Brant- ford were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Munro. Mrs. Crosier with Mr, and Mrs. Taylor and daughter spent the week- end in Algonquin Park area.
