Seasonal music by adult and junior Choirs accompanied by our organist, Mrs. G. Hunter. A high- light of the musical program, a solo by Mrs, B. Jeffs, gave much pleasure. A pageant "The Christmas Story", taken by many of the young people proved colourful and deep in mean- ing, Many White Gifts were dropped into the white dressed hampers. Offerng was collected by Robt. Jeffs, and Mrs. Jeffs and others in their special efforts towards this worth- while service. Tuesday night was a highlight for the Sunday School calendar when the Annual Concert was held in the "| Church Parlours with - a r-eAptity attendance. The Minister, Rev. Linstead acted as chairman and "on with the pro: gram', such as solos, recitations, and manger scene. Also a well staged play, "Christmas at the Casey's", en- acted by senior teenage mixed class applauded, Supt. Mr, E. Martyn also. Hill and brother, Mr. Roy Ferguson and son, Mr. Wm. Ferguson of Blackstock attended our special service on Sunday and were guests of Mr, and Mrs. Les. Beacock and sons: Many folk of our village were roused shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Friday when fire completely destroyed the house where Mr. and Mrs. Bow- man and two children resided. Fire brigade arrived only to save near-by buildings. House occupants escaped the flames in .their night attire. Neighbors kindly offered shelter and food. A fund in their aid is in the making. Ashburn The Christmas Meeting of the Ladies' Bible Class was held at the home 'of Mrs. Wm. Hopkins on Wed- 'nesday, Dec. 18, at 8:15 p.m. with the President, Mrs. W. Hopkins pres- iding. The meeting opened with the singing of Christmas Carols, the Scripture Lesson was read by Mrs. Douglas Ashton followed with prayer by Mrs. E. Humphrey. Readings by Mrs. W. Routley of film strip on "Christmas Around the World", was a most interesting pro- gramme. Everyone also enjoyed the usual exchange of gifts. Dainty re- freshments were served by Mrs. R. Batten; Mrs. Ray Graham; Mrs. E. vote of thanks was extended to Mrs. Hopkins for hospitality In her new home by Mrs, R. Richardson.
