Whitby in 1908 to the former Ellen Douglas who pre-deceased him in 1914. Mr, Cawker married again in 1944 to the former Katherine Coates. The deceased was a lifetime resi- dent of Port Perry and a member of the Port Perry United Church. As a young man he apprenticed in the harness making trade and worked for the late Curtis & Jeffrey harness makers. the livery business for his brothers who were butchers in the village. For a number of years he worked for the late Mr. W, M. Letcher in the undertaking business and continued working for Mr. A. L. McDermott af- ter Mr. Letcher's retirement. been in retirement for about the last 12 years. Surviving are his wife, three daughters (Mrs, A. Thornton) Norene of Toronto, (Mrs. E. Wrathall) Isobel of Port Hope, (Mrs. G. Jeffrey) Jean of Epsom and four sons, Douglas of Toronto, Donald of Whitby, George of Vancouver) and Harold of Peterbor- ough, Funeral services were conducted on May 18th from the McDermott-Pana- baker Chapel. Interment was in Pine minister of Port Perry United Church conducted the service. Junior Farmers Social Evening The Ontario County Junior Farmers Association held a Social Evening in May 20th, at 8.30 p.m. The large group of Juniors in at- tendance enjoyed an evening of hoth square and round dancing and several party games. Frank Barkey, Clare- mont, R.R. 3, was the caller for the square dancing. This was also a. farewell pasty for Al and Doreen Blades. Mr, Blades, who has been Assistant Agricultural Representative in = Ontario County. since January 1968, is being trans- resentative to Bruce County as of June 1st, 1961. i Ann Dryden, President of the Brook- lin Junior Institute, presented Al and Doreen with a corsage and houton- niere on behalf of the Juniors. Frank Barkey, President of the Ontario County Junior Farmers': Association, also presented them with a lovely desk set in- appreciation of the assistance and leadership given to the Junior Farmers during the past three years. 'The evening- programme was con- cluded with a delicious lunch being served by the members of the Brook- lin Junior Institute. (Mrs. Black was the owner of the Court in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where the Johnstons spent two months in 1954.) The co-hosts and hostesses were Mr. and Mrs, Roy Avery (nee Ferga Johnston) Tillbury, Mr. and Mrs. K. Johnston, Belleville, Mr. and Mrs. N. Johnston, Boissevain, Man, The couple's oldest grandchild, Don- na Marie Avery, was in charge of the golden guest book, Pouring tea dur- ing the afternoon and evening were Mrs Chas. Smith, Mrs. Geo. Johnston, Mrs, Tennyson Samells, Mrs. Russel Mountjoy, Mrs. Chas. Venning and Mrs Cecil Hill. Neices of the couple served the delicious lunch. The table was centred with a three tiered anniversary cake which was beautifully decorated with golden lea- ves and bells topped with tiny datto- dils. On each side of the cake was a beautiful bouquet of yellow and white spring flowers and mums, During the afternoon Mr, Ear] Dor. rell spoke of the fine qualities that have made the couple so well thought of through the years, Messrs Harry Johnston, Streetsville, and Mr. Ivan Mountjoy made the presentation of a swivel rocker, an occasional chair, two bouquets of mums and a sum of mon- ey to which both the bride and groom made fitting replies. Earlier in the day the Johnston clan had presented her with a necklace and earring set and him with a wallet. On Sunday following a family din- ner party at the home of Mr Earl Dor- rell the family presented.thelr parents with wrist' watches and. golden cups and saucers, They also received a num- week, were present, Donna Marie and Car- lyle Avery and Linda and Pearl John- aton. Mr. George Johnston, the groem"s man of 60 years ago was among the several who spoke words of congratu- lation. Their bridesmaid was the late Annie Ferguson Dorrell.
